re: Chloroquine cured this flu in France at 100% success rate

ETA- it's professional societies recommendation that holds weight. They're on top of things, generally speaking. You've got it a bit backwards though- the hesitancy to wholeheartedly recommend it from the top down is not them being unaware of it. It's because there isn't so much data that it needs to be used everywhere right now.
I know this will sound offensive, but I don't care what doctors want to do. If this drug stops this virus hysteria that is causing panic and economic disaster throughout the country, it needs to be used everywhere asap. I don't care if doctors, nurses, or custodians are giving it to patients. I don't care if the government ships it to every household and tells them to self-dose if they get sick.
When the government is banning people from Church, normal protocol is out the damn window. Either it's the plague or it's fricking not.
They can't have it both ways. IOW if it's scary enough to shut down the country, preventing people from getting a medicine that treats it makes you part of the problem.

That’s so crazy. I remember thinking it was odd his credentials were listed as med school advisor when he went on Tucker. What a fricking psychopath
This is exactly why we need to look at the data independently and not trust everything we see on Twitter or even hear on the TV unfortunately. Especially times like these when everyone is rushing to get the next news story out.

The Chloroquine news was, and still is, promising. The more I read about it, the more confident I was that it might be effective... until I clicked that link. Everything about that interview was sketchy. His title and his demeanor had me skeptical from the start and when he couldn’t put his sentences together, I stopped watching.

The Fox News interview dude was sketchy... the French doc who did the study is supposedly world renowned. The data was released and was pretty promising. WaWa pointed out a potential issue with the cases that dropped out of the study.
Once we have more data from a larger study that will tell us whether the new treatment approach is the answer or a dead end. I would expect we will know much more in another week or two.

Physicians will get on board when they see better endpoints studied
In other words, no one cares if you have less virus detected in your nose (what the study looked at) if you still die from viral pneumonia or are still required to be ventilated for the same amount of time.
For people wondering why doctors are being cautious that is why. We want to know that it actually makes a difference in the outcome and not just a lab test.

We should be making the stuff in 250 gallon totes, trucking them out everywhere, and telling everyone they are safe. That's all the mob wants to hear is that they are safe, if you get it we can cure it, etc.
They're lying about how deadly it is, so why not lie about how good the "cure" is? Just tell the mob what they want to hear

What if you’re scenario creates an overdose situation and people die from it? Now you have created a second scenario that creates hysteria. Let the doctors work the problem. These dudes are doing us all a favor by approaching this in the manner they are.

If dumb people die from overdosed chloroquine, it is for the best

I read the actual study. Guy on Tucker misrepresented it.
In reality 4 people dropped out of the study. Three of them dropped out because they had to go to ICU. One guy DIED. And one dropped out because of nausea.
Second, it appears to only be effective for milder cases. None of the test subjects were a!ready in ICU.

Do I still get my check?

Aren't the vast majority of cases mild cases?

Could still be useful. If we can get 15 minute tests and start really testing people, and a med can lower the viral load we could maybe get ahead of this thing.
Or am I way off here?

This better not be like Phalanx from World War Z. I know the proposed medicines are common and well-documented, but man if it doesn't work as well as mob wants it to work then we're gonna need more than shelter in place.

Lets end all the hype/fear and make and give everyone an Rx for Chloroquine and get back to life.
The creation of these drugs is not point and shoot. It sometimes takes hours to complete certain chemical reactions and it is close to a 100 steps in this process. The absolute earliest we could get new tablets, starting today, would be late April, early May.

I've been taking hydroxychloroquine daily since 2012. I was on it when it was all made by the company that developed it and called Plaquenil. I have to get an eye test every year because it can mess up your vision. Hope they don't deplete the normal supply.
