The fact that they only considered shooting it down is proof the US government likely supports this, in Scruffy’s opinion.

Or……there’s value in observing its behavior and intercepting anything it transmits, etc.

Essentially you're OK with them having the information if you're just letting it fly. Any vessel they have here is being monitored real time by them.

If network news is talking about it then we’re supposed to know about it. One more thing to be scared of.

Seems if it’s our airspace we should blow it out the sky immediately without discussion.
that's not just ANY US air space, that's the edge of where they majority of our CONUS based ICbMS are, behind the boom boats the only thing that other super powers and lesser powers really fear.

They are probably listening to the daily launch drills and stand by's realizing the CIC has not shot at reading the codes correctly to initiate "chop sticks"(term used when I was in the USN for nuclear activity, but I am sure that's not politically correct now) and since they now know this they probably know they can do whatever they want such as take Taiwan or heck take guam, maybe even LA or SF. Our 78 year run as the world's greatest super power is waining.

The frickin Japs sent balloon bombs over the lake to us during WW2. Actually killed a few people. One of those stories lost to time for most people.

The Great Balloon Bomb Invasion is a show about this. Said they reached as far as south as Texas and as far east as Indiana. Deaths in Oregon.

CBS news just talked aboot it.

As did npr on my drive home.

I’m still not sure what y’all are specifically worried about here that a drone or satellite or human could provide in more detail, likely more discretely.

You goobers freaking out is probably the most impactful thing a balloon would specifically accomplish

B-1's don't have ANY air to air capability and eagles do have the ASAT missile but not sure if it works on balloons.
