When was the Raptor unveiled to the public?

Late 90s?

I think I remember my pawpaw's Popular Mechanics having them on the cover in the mid-90s

Just found one from 1993

And i doubt this "6th gen" fighter could hold an Eagle's jockstrap in an actual war where it had to be deployed, used, maintained, and actually kept operational.

It's a large part of why the SU57 is practically a non-threat. It's cool and all, but they couldn't actually use it in any way that matters.

The raptor could absolutely be used, kept in the fight, and be making a big difference in a conflict.

This paper tiger probably couldn't even hang with fat Amy for more than one flight.

Meanwhile, Russia has exposed the Felon as little more than 4th gen at best.

Thing is, as much as they try to steal, they don't have the fundamental understanding or technological capability to properly implement such advanced designs.

I’ve done business in China since they were all wearing blue Mao suits riding bicycles and this is very true. But you’d be surprised what they do have technology wise.

If your company is in the technology side of the O&G biz, say geophysics or high pressure drilling or production, they’ve got your tech docs and drawings. Just ask your IT executive. But they can’t get export licenses for the good stuff from the U.S. or Euros.

The drive from Beijing to electronics factories sixty kilometers south is like going through Kansas corn fields, a company in Sakhalin Island has very sophisticated geophysical acquisition and processing gear they bought from an American in Singapore, Harbin up north is swarming with Russians in the drilling business, has a Wild, Wild West vibe.

My J.V. driver in Shanghai was NFL linebacker size, rare there, whose English was barely passible until he was out of my hearing range when it became perfect. We paid phd engineers and physicists $700 a month, half went to the government.

Fascinating country who can’t be trusted at all. They’ve had some form of government for a thousand years and are in no hurry to kick our arse out of the western Pacific.

We probably also let them "steal" faulty plans.

I'd guess the product of counter espionage. Have something ridiculous like that so you know exactly where the leak is and control it. Kind of like when we broke Enigma in WW2 - we couldn't let them know we did. We wanted them to keep using it.

That’s cute and all, but how much if their resources did they have to dedicate to create one?

Coming from the people who got caught painting Chow Chows black and white like Pandas at their zoo, I'm not sweating it.

It's has to be a model, not the real thing, Button head rivets holding on the duck nose. Not stealth. Looks like a movie prop.
