Sounds good, but I’d like to see a wage/cost of living comparison between Mexican and American workers to see if that “opportunity” has truly been diminished.
Doesn't matter. Most of the swarthy horde you see crossing our border these days is coming from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, not Mexico.

Trade with China started declining after the Trump administration imposed restrictive tariffs on Chinese imports in 2018
That’s racist as frick

The Biden administration left those tariffs in place
I can get behind this, makes sense
Put these in reverse order or not, I believe you may have a very promising future in politics.

Good. I worked at a major manufacturing plant that made supplies for restaurants. McDonald's was our biggest client. When we got an order for China, we couldn't ship a completed unit. Had to ship everything in pieces just so they could say they made it. Big pain in the arse. Screw china.

Poor IB Freeman.

Ah, but maybe they could get their “opportunity” without having to travel so far north.

Many "Illegals" are coming through Mexico but are not Mexican citizens.

Good.
Mexico is our neighbor. If we must outsource, we should be helping Mexico develop their economy instead of China.

We need to expand this policy into Central America and THEN the flow of illegal immigration from the South will subside.
having an actual border policy might help also…

I find it ridiculous that we don't have an American free trade zone that includes every country in North, South, and Central America. No tariffs. Easy work visas.

I don’t care for Drumpt (his real name) but he isn’t always wrong either and he was correct on the China problem

Nafta2 is huge. Texas has a chance to surpass California due to the amount of trading that will happen. The next governor would be wise to try and get high speed rail from Nola to Houston going.

I love both Mexican and Chinese food.

Some is due to Tariffs but also a lot of companies realized how fragile the supply chain is during Covid when you have to rely on the Chinese to supply many goods. Since then many companies have moved crucial production back here to the US or Mexico.
I’ve always said we should let Mexico manufacture our cheap plastic shite. It creates jobs there and incentivizes them not to immigrate here, plus logistics and shipping is cheaper with our neighbor than overseas.
Biggest hurdle is keeping the violent Cartels at bay and providing safe work environment and safe shipping lanes devoid of cartel influence

Nah, Mexico doesn't have enough significant ports.

This is something people should continue to get behind. The more production in Mexico the less likely illegals will come here for “opportunity.”
And the most feasible-to-build Wall is funding one on Mexico's southern border, if Mexico were to finally join the rest of North America in basic standards.

I’d rather import stuff from Mexico than China. However, how about making more of our stuff in the USA. Most of it’s done by robotics anyway.
It's not like we don't make things
But making more stuff means we need to build more factories
Which like it or not means we need more immigrant labor
Posted on 7/20/23 at 8:06 pm to WB Davis
The Biden Administration likely has no idea those tariffs exist. They are too worried about pleasing their left wing overlords with their green agenda.

It my understanding the redoing of NAFTA was to address these Mexican and Canadian pass throughs with the USMCA.
