My niece is 3 and she is going this. Will basically only eat Mac and cheese and Wendy’s nuggets. My brother is getting pretty fed up and I am unsure what they are going to do.

Point of fact.... eight months after graduating MechE at LSU, I was teaching astronauts the "Fundamentals of On-Orbit Maintenance of the ISS" class at Building 9, Johnson Space Center.

I am troubled that 14 people downvoted the OP.

Picky eaters have parents that are weak minded.

Every time.

No exceptions.

It’s completely asinine to assume one knows everything about a child’s situation based on a perceived thought by some non-parent. But what do I know, I only have 2 kids.

Look, I am not trying to insult you as a parent or claim that you don't know what you're doing. but we were all someone's child once. My parents' stance was "you're a child. You don't get to choose what you eat. Either eat what's on the plate or go to bed." Those were my choices. They did not acquiesce to my desire for burgers and pizza every meal.

I would never claim to know how to handle a sick child, a crying child, or any of the hard stuff. But just from the OP's thread, this seems easy.

If they are going out to eat at restaurants that clearly don’t have a kid friendly menu....parents should take the hint from the restaurant and chose another restaurant

So that those of us without kids can enjoy our meals in peace.

Anytime I go out to eat with my sister in law and her kids.....she always makes sure it has a kid friendly menu cause my nephew is a picky eater.

My feelings are delicious.

Or at least tastier than green beans.

Nah. We take our 2 year old kid to nice places. She eats off our plates. Rare steak, asparagus, seafood, whatever. It's because we have been steadfast at home and willing to go through the growing pains

This shite drives me crazy. These parents put so much stress on themselves and their kids. Put what’s for dinner in front of the kid on the plate. They don’t like/want it... fine. Goodnight. It’s not like they’re going to starve if they miss a meal. It won’t take long before they will accept what is served.

This is my plan. Once he's on to table food.

It's one of the biggest non-problems of parenthood. You just have to be willing to put up with it for a little while.

Also helps to know that her morning Pediasure and whole milk during the day is going to give her enough to grow at that age. So if she skips a meal because she's whining about it, it doesn't worry us.

It's exactly like a dog who won't eat his new food. Just give it a day or two and that will change quick

I think it's hilarious you think this is so easy.

I don't have kids either, but I was one, and boy, did I give my mom absolute hell with this issue. I was a very good kid otherwise, very polite, made excellent grades, straight-As, etc.

But I gave my mom hell with food. Certain things I didn't like but would eat, but there were other things I would never, ever compromise on. Example: when lent would come along, it'd be Friday and my mom was busy and couldn't cook and would get Filet-o-Fish from McDonalds for everyone. I'd go into that knowing they were going to force me to eat it, and I had a mission to beat whatever tactics they had.

If the directive was "you're going to sit there and not move until your food is gone," then the game became "How late do my parents want to stay up to make sure I don't move from this chair?" More often than not I'd get to around midnight and then I was allowed to make a sandwich just so everyone could go to bed.

If the directive was "you're going to eat what I tell you or you get the belt," that's great! I'm willing to get whipped with the belt and scream and cry but get to go to my room without eating that shite.
