I guarantee your kid is not as stubborn as mine is if your shite takes 2 weeks to break. We broke sleeping and everything else no problem. My kid just doesn’t like to eat certain foods and she will pick and eat what she can to get by. My wife was apparently the same way. I mean it’s fine by us, she just chooses to go to bed hungry all the time or she eats but it’s been 3 years and she never just eats everything no problem every meal.

I think this is an important point to make. My second youngest is a lot like yours, but my oldest two were more or less like genro’s. Some kids won’t put up much of a fight. Some will dig in.

There’s a lot of “Do X and every kid will do Y” stuff combined with “You’re a terrible parent if you don’t agree” silliness in this thread. Know thy child and do what’s best for him and your household.

They eat what I say they eat when I say they eat it. Or they don't eat. They sleep where I tell them to sleep when I say to sleep. Or they don't sleep. They stay with other people when I say they will. Going through highchair temper tantrums, bedtime meltdowns, separation anxiety SUCKED. But the individuals struggles on each seem like distant insignificant memories. I mean they were maybe 2 weeks or something

You would get sick of cleaning throw up if I were your kid. I'm the oldest & the only picky kid of 3. True story... My mom took me to the pediatrician bc she was so worried that I only ate grits for every meal for months. He told her Id be fine. I saw the lady who used to babysit me at my MawMaw's funeral and first thing she said to me after 30yrs is that she thinks of me every time she buys grits.

Many families do not have real home cooked meals much less eat together anymore.

In my childhood, there was a rotation of sorts when it came to dinner. We pretty much knew what to expect on certain days of the week. You can bet our asses were prepped and present for my Dad to walk through the door and sit to eat.

Today, people eat on the run, and kids are used to fast food more so than anything else. They become accustomed to the fast food because they don't get the benefit of Mom/Dad's cooking because it just doesn't happen enough for them to appreciate it.

Pretty simple actually.
