Almost everyone I know who went into the mental health field is/was 1) female and 2) almost completely out of their damn mind. It's actually seen as a positive by some of them because they feel they can be more 'empathetic' to their patients if they are themselves mentally ill and in therapy/on meds.

I’ve worked in healthcare for 30 years. Most therapists I’ve been around are slightly off. I think you have to be to listen to some of the crap they hear.
