Kirk's security detail included former Secret Service agents and U.S. Marines.

How many? He had what looked like 5-6 guys around him.

If there is a "miss" in security it's with this team. No one should be blaming campus PD.

The scope of course cost more than the gun and I love the gun, but I really love my scope

Ole reliable. Take care of it and it'll be my grandkids' one day. It was my father-in-laws before me.

Thanks. I knew they were using it in their rifles up until a certain point.

It could be Chris Kyle and James Reece and Chesty Puller, if you don't have the right access and the right stuff there isn't much you can do about this. I assume its a small outfit with limited resources at an open air event with a couple thousand participants. With a dude taking a chip shot off a rooftop like that, the only way they could have reasonably been expected to prevent it would be aerial surveillance or counter-snipers. I seriously doubt this guy had all that, and I doubt a college would allow it for him. Again, he isn't the president. He's a political activist. We used to have them at school all the time and I don't remember any serious security around.

No way it was a transgender person, they don't have the nuts to do it.

It looked like the bullet went through his right side of his neck. That angle doesn’t look consistent with the shot.

Theyre saying he was wearing a metal chest plate that might have deflected it like that. Dont quote me on it...

Seems crazy no one looked up when doing security sweeps, but it doesn't sound like there was a whole lot of coordination between Kirk's security and other LE.

I honestly think it's even possible people saw him and assumed he was with a LE agency serving as overwatch. If you recall back to Butler PA and the attempt on Trump, I remember there being an uproar about the lack of communication between agencies. People spotted the shooter getting in position and no one that mattered knew about it until after the shots were fired.

I'm guessing it went straight into his artery, entering from the front.

Campus PD isn't doing a security "sweep" for this that includes tops of buildings and who knows how many people Charlie had, if they had the time and resources to check the tops of buildings, etc.

Relatively speaking, it wasn't a huge event for a college campus either. It's just a shitty person doing shitty things. No need to blame anyone but that person.

Assuming the location of the shooter is correct in that photo, using Google Maps, the distance was around 120 yards.

I agree, it looks 100 yards at best

Tough to tell exactly where they believe he was on the roof because that particular building appears to have several "levels" of a roof, but from the highest level it appears to be about 140 yards to the tent Charlie was speaking under.

I think it was the top tier, near the label for UVU Women's Success Center (ironically). He was on gravel roof.

The entrance was clearly visible slightly left of center, lower half of his neck. You can't see the exit, and you don't know if the bullet tracked straight, so there are no way to draw any conclusions from anything shown other than he was shot in the neck with a rifle.
