Doesn't that look more like a .308 action than a 30-06?

Yeah length between turret and bell of the objective is the same or shorter than the action.

I would lean toward re-barreled sporterized M98 action. The safety looks aftermarket like the polymer stock. A view with the front sight post would help.

Ya, Im thinking its this or just some M98 hunting rifle. It definitely isnt anything fancy.

Now we need to identify the shirt the shooter was wearing.

It looks appropriate for a K98 to me.

I think it’s a disabled veteran shirt that can be bought in a number of places, someone a few pages back posted it

He’s either trying to blend in or he has a very strange background story

My bet is that it is a disguise

Blending in is my guess

Especially if it’s that tranny who cut his hair. We’ll see

In all honesty, that was a perfect situation for a shot. Charlie was uncovered, on the low ground, in a natural dome surrounding by buildings to block wind.

No idea how he wasn't spotted. That does not look like 200 yards. With that crowd there would have been people within 50 yards of that location.

Terrible prep by campus police and Kirks security detail to not have the high ground covered

If anything can be called a silver lining, I think it is that this event has led to the uncovering of so many horrible human beings that feel it necessary to spew hate online without anonymity towards a husband and father of two was murdered.

Shining a light on some evil people.

Man, yall have to remember this isn't the president with a real security detail. He probably had a local contracted outfit with just a few guys and little / no surveillance equipment. With that other building corner right there, he could have taken the shot with only a second or two of exposure to the podium.

Maybe I'm in the minority here but I don't feel like a controversial political activist holding a debate on free speech alley at LSU would have solicited a real security operation. I'd be surprised if there were more than a handful of campus cops loitering around dicking off on their phones.

Probably laid flat for a long time and no one had real visibility of it. There weren't many people on the ground in front of/around that building. They were further towards the stage.

I doubt campus police were looking for or trained to look for snipers for some 2,500 person campus event.

Charlie's security team, maybe, yeah, but he doesn't have secret service level security. Hindsight is 20/20 too, but maybe he shouldn't have been as visible as he was. Have lower awnings and have him sitting further back.

Totally agree.

Campus police said there were 6 uniformed cops and plain clothes officers in the crowd. That is more than I'd expect at something like this. Events like this are common on campuses.
