Are yall donating the money to a specific organization

Yes, we just havent decided yet. We want it to be an organization that will definitely use the money directly for flood victims. Any ideas?

I know it is a world away still and obviously a very fluid situation but anything starting to organize for this weekend? Even just organizations that may be in process of looking at options even if details arent sorted out?

I am sure there are a lot of people working Monday-Friday that would be eager to figure out where they can kick in some man hours come saturday/sunday.

Ill also ask one that is easy for everyone to do --- AmazonSmile does donations for local charities, all you have to do is select the one you want to use as your default.

there are like 50 pages of baton rouge charities that you can select ---- any one of them that would be best?

Don't know if it's been mentioned but United Way of Acadiana is accepting donations (pillows, blankets, diapers, TP, canned goods, buckets, mops, etc) daily from 8am to 6pm. 215 E Pinhook Rd in Lafayette.

Anyone know of a number you can call to check if they need volunteers at any shelters?

Created an interactive map of shelter and donation locations in and around Baton Rouge/Livingston/Ascension. If you know of other locations, let me know. If you have their phone # that would be helpful as well.

My SO and I have a ton of quality furniture in that we can donate. We just finished renovating our house and bought new beds, sofas and dressers. So, have to get rid of everything else. Last weekend I though about putting everything on legit go app or craigslist now we decided we want to donate it to a family. It's enough to furnish a 3 bedroom house including a temperpedic bed.

Only issue is that we don't have a truck and would need someone to pick everything up from Nola.

Can't you donate through the local Red Cross website and specify for flood relief?

ETA: Yes you can and I just did. Dropdown specification for Louisiana Floods.

Im in St. Tammany Parish and a flyer was sent home with my youngest daughter stating that school supplies, cash donations, or store gift cards can be sent with your student to school on Friday, August 19. Everything will be collected then distributed to other school districts affected by the flooding. If you are a St. Tammany parent, ask your child if their school is collecting.

This is my situation. My office opened up today, so we're working our normal week until Friday. I want to help with pulling up carpet, shoveling mud, whatever this weekend if anyone knows of anyone organizing this. I guess I could just show up somewhere that's been hit hard and find someone to help, but I'd rather be part of something a little more organized.

Just did 2 days solid of removal.

Even for a medium sized house, it's a lot of work. All the wet stuff is 3x heavier than it normally is
