I have lots of clothes, a small kennel and box fan and some dog food. Anyone know of any shelters that need these things?

I'm wondering if y'all have seen people doing animal rescues? Like the ASPCA or something? Also, I'm wondering if gators end up all over the place where you wouldn't normally see them after an event like this?

We have a ton of clothes as well. Does Celtic (or anywhere else) need clothes?

Anyone have a way of getting in touch with some of the animal shelters in the area? I'm sure they are taking in a ton of animals and need extra food and bedding.

Anyone know someone around Lafayette who needs help pulling carpet, sheetrock? Everyone I know who had damage already has a crew working and my truck is loaded and ready.

Cool, thanks. I think we will head that way, get some fresh stuff from Costco and see if they want the clothes too.

Tried to register on the .gov site to volunteer my sons and their buddies and me and it said all the spots were filled? Where would 5-6 recent LSU grads (and me) in SBR best be able to assist?

I don't know how many people still need sand bags, but I just showed up to a fire station yesterday and filled sandbags and loaded them into cars. You can look into that.

Peltier Park To Accept Donations For Flood Victims

Mayor Tommy Eschete has announced that both the Offices of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Thibodaux have organized a food and household goods drive starting today, Aug. 15 for the victims of the flood disaster in our neighboring parishes.

The City’s collection point will be located at the Peltier Park Recreation Center, 151 Peltier Park Drive.

Items will be accepted today from noon to 8 p.m. and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The collection effort will continue until further notice. It would be extremely helpful if items donated can be boxed so as to ease in the loading of trucks.

We will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items, household paper products, cleaning supplies, disposable diapers, bottled water, pet supplies and blankets. At this point we are not accepting clothing as there are many efforts in other areas which have already done that.

A note about donations...my wife is at our church today and they are putting together buckets filled with cleaning supplies. Dish soap, household cleaner, laundry detergent, mop buckets, mops, air freshener, insect repellent, scrub bruches, anti bacterial soap and wipes, hand sanitizer, scouring pads, clothespins, clothes line, trash bags, dust maska, kitchen gloves and work gloves are going in each bucket.

I think these would make great donation items.
