Was looking for a non Red Cross option to make a monetary donation. Does anybody know if this site is verified and legit?

Where should I bring used clothing in BR? Just found a few old shirts and pants that I don't wear anymore
ETA: From volunteerlouisiana.gov
I guess I'll just donate to St Vincent de Paul at a later time

Donated goods are also being identified and will be posted as well. Please DO NOT send any items without make contact with an organization who will use or distribute the goods. Used clothing is NOT needed, and no organization is accepting them at this time. Cash donations are the best and easiest way to provide assistance for both immediate and long term recovery efforts. Donors are encouraged to donate to the organization of their choice. For a list of Louisiana Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (LAVOAD) at LINK /. These organizations are currently, or soon will be, responding to activities.

We just dropped off a bunch of clothing at Celtic. Not sure if that is the absolute best place of all, but they said they would definitely take it.

Thanks, as I just edited above they said not to worry about bringing used clothes anywhere

I dropped a bunch of clothes at Celtic along with a kennel and some dog food. I'm not sure that's their most urgent need at this point. From what I understand they need unopened men's underwear, feminine hygiene products, canned food items, diapers, toothpaste/toothbrushes.
I also dropped some toiletries at the capital area United way on Laurel street downtown. They need shampoo, soap, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, nonperishable canned goods, baby food and formula, diapers, cleaning supplies (including gloves, mops, etc.), toilet paper, paper towels.
These are just what these places need the most (from what I've gathered). Anything you have to donate won't be turned away and will certainly be appreciated.

Apparently the River Center is turning away volunteers. Does anyone know if Celtic needs any? A few hours ago they didn't, but I was just wondering if anyone happens to know if that has changed.

Celtic was accepting used clothes yesterday for sure

They accepted them this morning a little before noon as well. But I've heard from multiple sources they don't need any more, or at least it's far from their most urgent need

The F.G. Clark Activity Center @ Southern University is in dire need of plus sized/big & tall clothing. So if you guys are able, Im sure some folks would greatly appreciate it.
Hope all of you guys families are doing well...and thank you all who are taking the time to get the word out.

This is correct. We offloaded a bunch of vehicles today. There are tons of clothes.
Unopened men's and women's underwear, toiletries and medical supplies were the things I heard were of greatest need at Celtic.
Also, things that aren't commonly donated are appreciated and needed. Specifically denture cream and denture cleaner and disposable undergarments. Lots of elderly folks had to evacuate to there with none of those essential items.

Another thing to think about donating is things for kids, like coloring books to keep them occupied

Not what I'm hearing. Everyone is accepting stuff, including Celtic, the river center, capital area United way, and local restaurants like the Merchant and City Pork.

I was literally the 2nd car in line when they told us that. So you were one of the last they accepted by car

Welp, just heard something on NBC news saying that the shelters aren't taking anymore donations. They are at maximum capacity. Not sure if all shelters or just specific ones
