I do think there is some of that in Sturgill's fanbase, but not really Zach Bryan's or Colter's.
Colter's music just isn't for everyone. I have to be in the mood for it myself. Probably been months since I last listened to him.
I don't think the average Zach Bryan fan is smart/aware enough to know the history of the whole Outlaws vs Nashville, Texas vs Nashville thing.

Zach Bryan seems like a cool dude, and I like his story, but I just think his music is mediocre.
It's just my take, but the way people react when you mention him like you're mentioning the greatest artist, singer, and guitarist to ever live. I mean, its ok.
He was in the right place at the right time and is reaping the benefits.

I didn't change anything. I've been playing and singing for over 20 years now, so I have an ear for what's good. He's objectively talented. Those artists you listed are also very good, so we agree there. But, Zach Bryan just started posting his stuff on youtube when he started out. I don't know where you're getting all this stuff about him "caring if people like it or not," that sounds like projection.
Zach Bryan has a good raw voice, good writing, and just looks like he's having fun doing it. He's not in the same vein as Sturgill or Colter bud. It's not a competition.
