As AI becomes an increasingly integral part of daily life, Elon Musk believes it will become so powerful that people won’t need to save for retirement. On an episode of “Moonshots with Peter Diamandis,” Musk said, “Don’t worry about, like, squirreling money away for retirement in like 10 or 20 years” because it “won’t matter.”

If so, there will be all kinds of nasty trickle down effects.
Offhand, a bunch of people who can no longer afford their mortgage notes.

Bruh……
If you haven’t seen the change in the past 5 years you aren’t even paying the slightest attention.
And those that say AI gives them just garbage just use the top level, free ones.
You pay the premium levels allowing for more computer time to process, you end up with highly detailed and polished outputs.
It’s sophisticated enough that before spending the ten minutes thinking about it, there is a back and forth where it looks for some clairity of the specifics and the details of the request.
A lot of my job is turning to just auditing the output. And errors are happening fewer and fewer.
Do I think that guy is right? Idk. But im not convinced he’s wrong either.

Our society can’t afford for him to be right. This OT fantasy where plumbers and electricians are killing it while white collar jobs are out of existence is silly. We will crumble.

Not with Microsoft's crappy copilot they wont. It has to be one of the worst to use.

I’m sure Elon will be very generous

Although this is sarcasm, for the others panicking. Their wealth is not real and would collapse with a society not working.

Exactly. No one would have money to hire the plumbers or electricians

Why is Mustafa at Microsoft? And, ok. I’ll be able to retire early without guilt.

He's right. Our jerbs will be just like the polar ice caps. Gone.

Define "most".
Define "white collar".
Define "work".
Define "fully automated".

I guess so, they’re smarter than us
When your country has a population of 1.47 billion, there's going to be more than a handful of intelligent ones. There will also be a huge number of dumb ones.
The smart ones are the ones who can afford to come to the USA.

A lot of Indian executives are becoming more popular because those motherfrickers work over 100 hours a week and love it

Learn to work on Ford vehicles. It’s the new “learn to code”.

Who will be paying for work on ford vehicles?

I've noticed. I've worked in IT the past 25 years. You know what's also common in this industry? So called game changing trends and fads that companies try to sell you on.

I wonder who is going to buy Microsoft's goods and services? The single-minded rush to nudge a stock price will eventually lead to a massive collapse.
AI requires a lot of resources and those needs will escalate with demand. If these predictions from guys like this are indeed accurate, they're fricked, we're fricked and the entire globe is going to go to war eventually to feed their new master.

Over 50% of the U.S. workforce are white collar workers, including the vast majority of high earners.
Let’s take at face value the idea that blue collar tradesmen aren’t replaceable by AI (I find it hard to believe that all white collar workers will be replaceable with AI but the powers that be won’t be able to figure out how to build a robot that can snake a drain or repair a Ford, but separate subject). Almost everything that “blue collar” workers do is paid for by the discretionary income of white collar workers.
Name a “trade.” If you go far enough down the path of where the demand comes from that makes supplying said trade viable, it’s going to be largely the discretionary income of white collar workers.
The idea that you could take 75% of the disposable income out of the country’s economy and society not collapse in spectacular fashion for everyone is laughable.
Either all these CEOs are lying through their teeth or our government and powers that be are asleep at the wheel in a way that will judge them to be the biggest frickups in human history

South Park made an episode about it and it was hilarious. Bankers and Attorneys out of work and the Plumber had a Rolls Royce Phantom and wore a fur coat to quote jobs
