IMO the replies that deny this dont consider the "exponential" factor of AI growth. Its evolving so rapidly the next years growth will equate to the the last 5 years growth. The year after that.....its too late. Its already too late because we continue with it knowing this.

It's funny, at least once every few weeks I get an AI analysis of a log with an explanation of what the issue MUST be because the AI analysis has those urgent trigger words and pretty icons that the LLMs love to use, and then I have to explain that there's a ton that the AI isn't aware of, so what they think the issue is is wrong.

The younger folks dont have the patience or resolve to go through that stage because AI can surely figure it out eventually after a bunch of prompts
My 12-18 months thought is that there's going to be a ton of crap code out there left from these types, and devs who know what they are doing to clean up.

Is it though, or is that what we are being told so AI companies can continue to secure funding?

Where is the proof of this exponential growth. It clearly isn't in the products that these companies have been delivering. If anything it is cleared they have pleatued.
The current implementation of these models is not scaling

I’m sure the AI will be able to write briefs and do nerd shite but I’d like to see an AI walk into a courtroom with twelve people staring at it and swing its dick around and convince them to give it a million five

If you're talking about PI, AI-driven cars will prevent that eventuality by eliminating wrecks for the most part.
If you're talking about business, my thoughts on how that develops have been posted many times on here.

You can already use ChatGPT as an accountant. You just upload your spreadsheets and tell it what you want it to do. You still need someone who knows what they are doing to check it.

The issue with many of those services is user input. Over time I imagine that will be where people develop at the user level to work better with AI

I actually asked ChatGPT about its users and long story short, it said only 10% of its users know how to properly use it. So yeah that is part of it. It said that most people still use it like its google.
If anyone wants to learn how to better use it, I recommend setting up your account.. The free version I think allows 8 questions and 5 images, but I gave mine a name to refer to it as because there are times you will talk to it like you are talking to anyone else.
Tell it that you want to refer to it as whatever, I'd recommend keeping it simple, mine is Elle. Then tell it about yourself "Elle, my name is _____ I am x years old. I like to ________", etc. Then ask it to save that information for you. Then the more and more you use it the more it learns you. The more you use it the more you will learn its capabilities, but user input is a big issue.

That is good from a stylistic standpoint. From a substantive standpoint, it has shown propensity to manipulate outputs to make them be more likely what you want, which is bad if you want the most objective accuracy.

It’s a long way from being able to determine why corn is up 10 cents on the day without just copying something a human wrote.

That’s when I’ll start a company where you deal with actual English speaking people and take all of his business.
That is already happening in the "customer experience" space.
I worked on a project last year to implement Amazon Connect for a contact center. The AI bot you speak to when you call can speak to you in any accent. It can be customized to your preference if you are a regular caller. But it is a bot, not a human. And you cannot tell the difference.

This will be the differentiator between those who will be successful in the future, and those who will struggle to survive.
Learn how to correctly communicate with it and use it as a tool.
Adapt or die.

Anyone who has tried to use AI for work knows this is dumb.
