AI is replacing a lot of early career grinding tasks. However, it still requires a seasoned professional to create prompts, and use the tool iteratively to get results. You need a real human with industry knowledge to guide it. LLMs are good at pulling data and giving opinions. Not drafting lengthy documents with minimal input.

My company is hiring them like they are in short supply. It’s mind blowing. It would be one thing if they were good leaders. Most are data hounds with a caveman mentality on how to handle business professionals.

Once they are in they hire other Indians majority in leadership positions. They are dug in like ticks

I guess so, they’re smarter than us

If they were all that smart, India would be a different place. America is the world's great innovator.

That’s when I’ll start a company where you deal with actual English speaking people and take all of his business.

AI is going to make it where there are very few rich and very many poor. No middle class. Like the Elysium movie.

I would suggest anyone go all in on AI stocks if you want to be in the former group.

Pretty sure I heard the 12-18 months line about 12-18 months ago.

The whole "we're resigning from these AI companies because we're scared of the future" bit is cute, too. Totally not because they aren't making enough money to cover costs.

The issue with the critics of this technology is the failure to understand how quickly these things will improve. Many of the issues mentioned here are true today. The wrong thinking is that it will take 5 or 10 years to meaningfully improve. It's more like 5 or 10 months.

Problem with AI is you build technical debt when you can jr developers and then eventually get it to a point where it can get rid of mid range developers...sr developers stay for review purposes to make sure AI is doing its thing correctly via coding (troubleshooting)...then you've fired the future of your company and have to rehire as people retire or leave...and those people may or may not be better programmers because most of the younger generation is all in on AI without actually knowing programming and logic skills (i.e. vibe coders)

ETA: I cant tell you how many times ive schooled the younger generation when it comes to debugging. Its a quirk you learn when you are actually involved deeply in learning a language or system. The younger folks dont have the patience or resolve to go through that stage because AI can surely figure it out eventually after a bunch of prompts

If you are invested in a non-equal-weighted S&P 500 ETF or mutual fund like VOO you already have about 35% of your money exposed to the mag 7 stocks.

I still think it's a bubble. I think AI will have a significant impact on the future, but these predictions are always ridiculously early.

We need more investors in our new AI project is what that translates into. Sorry, AI is useful, but when everyday people find a use for it besides a souped up google, then I’ll worry.

Accountants…

Ironic timing of this comment.

Botkeeoer, which was supposed to revolutionize accounting with AI, went tits up over the weekend.

Botkeeper ran for 11 years and raised $100 million in funding and in the rare moments they got something done correctly, no one trusted them and it turns out businesses want to work with actual humans.

This was after another AI accounting outfit, Bench, went tits up last year.

Meanwhile, in audit, where AI is kinda doing some things well, clients are demanding lower fees because there are less human hours to pay for. The firms thought they were going to keep the efficiency savings, but the clients want them…
