No doubt going to Facebook was stupid, but based on the article the principal already made up his mind not to use CPD anymore over something so trivial.

Both need to sit down and talk, not act like children.

probably the straw that broke the principal's back with those bafoons. EBRSO is the real LEO in that area.

the only laws they enforce are traffic and the city doesnt even benefit from the tickets they write. better believe they are cruising around in brand new tahoes though....

Again, it's to relieve the school of liability. If a student is "sick" in the bathroom, the cop is a first responder and is also the monitor.

The central police are a 100% volunteer force outside of the chief who makes something stupid like $99 a month.

Their funding is non-existent, so I tend to side with the chief when he doesn't feel the need to bend his officers to every whim, considering the officers wouldn't be paid anyway.

If you want free help, don't bitch about the way it's allocated.

CPD Chief is the one that got on FB with the posting, not Prescott. Chief also must be deleting FB comments - there shows 25-30 comments but only about 8 showing up. Way too much drama for a Police Chief to involve himself on a FB bitch-fest, makes him look foolish.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me... the school wanted a certain level of service provided for security at their events, the Central PD either couldn't or wouldn't provide the desired level of service, so the school hired the EBRSO instead.

Revolutionary stuff right there.

Police chief comes off like a bitch in this scenario. Taking it to Facebook? Very mature and professional.

I def think it was unprofessional to bring this to facebook like the chief did. I obviously dont have anything to do with this situation but to me it seems like the principal made a reasonable request. Seems to me that there had to be more thats happened in the past to lead to this decision by the principal.

On another note, I totally understand trying to get officers due to liability issues. Once the police dept decided they couldn't fulfill the request, couldnt the principal have sought employees from Acadian Ambulance? I dont know if they do that kind of work but it would be a first responder available if needed.

Seems like a communication problem. The PC comes off as if he took the request for extra security as a demand so he got butthurt. Instead of calling the principle and talking it out, he failed at politics and went on a FB rant.

I know that and said it was stupid too.

But per the article, Prescott refused to use CPD for anymore school functions before the facebook post.

There has got to be more to this than just the chief refusing to send a female officer to monitor the bathroom. Seriously? Getting panties in a bunch over that? Got to be more history here, but if not, both are acting like idiots.

Not sure how many times it needs to be said in the OP or in this thread but the school is PAYING the officers $30 an hour as a Private Security Detail. They are employing them and telling them what functions they are to perform.

Short of something illegal, like arrest everyone you see, the police have the choice to do as asked or not. They chose not and the principal decided to use another service provider.

This ain't rocket science here. If you had an employee and he told you he wanted to work from home even though you required him to come to the office, would that be OK with you?

Word on the Central streets is that there have been football games and/or other events where the school hires CPD to provide security, and CPD has not performed the duties asked of them. Supposedly just getting paid to hang out together rather than to go to assigned positions at gates, doors, field-side or whatever.

It's sort of like the Seinfeld episode where Jerry pays his maid but she comes over and doesn't actually clean up.

That's what I've heard anyway.

If I'm paying $30 an hour for someone, I'm gonna have demands. Why? Because I'm paying them to do it. It's no different than a contractor not following the specs on a project. I don't give a shite how you want to do the job. I'm paying you to do it, so you'll do it the way I require. Otherwise, I'll find someone who will do it the way i need. And that's exactly what the principal did.

Does he not have that right? Why would he be under any obligation to use CPD?

Seems like the principal tried to use CPD, CPD refused so the principal will be using a more accommodating agency going forward. Nothing immature about that.
