Many options would have been available had the Chief not thrown a hissy on line. Good to know that the guy in charge of a group of people with guns and arrest authority can't handle a simple disagreement. If ever there were a reason not to reelect someone, this would be it. What a dumb arse. No matter how right he may have been, he was 100% wrong the second he put this on FaceBook.

So if a female student was raped on campus, would the principal demand an all female police response?
Why do you need a female officer. Could not a female teacher or chaperone pass out tampons?
Police should roam free so that they can respond to violence, not clogged toilets.
Special request based upon sex of officer has lawsuit written all over it!
With the chief on this one.

That's kinda a weird request. I'm pretty certain that CPD does not have the resources (both male and female officers) to fullfill such a request. The principle could assign a female teacher to work area and be available just in case needed in conjunction with the officer.

That seems reasonable but there is at least a female officer in training. I see her and one of the other guys shooting radar sometimes.

So much dumb in this post. YES. Off-Duty security officers at a high school dance expected to patrol the girls bathroom to make sure they aren't drinking in there IS EXACTLY like responding to a rape or other crime in progress.

This is off-duty security, the person paying (in this case the school) has every right to dictate where the officers stand and what functions they perform. If you hired an off-duty officer to provide security at your office building would you be happy when he says "I am going to roam free in the neighborhood and write traffic tickets."

You know what would bring a lawsuit? A male officer patrolling the girls bathroom during a dance. Female officers are specifically requested for certain tasks (i.e. searching a female prisoner) ALL THE TIME.

Is there something in the water in Central that makes these people believe this stuff?

And the chief should have informed the principal, or given a reason, PRIOR to the event being held instead of hearing about it from his own staff.

This is the correct answer.

Why a cop, and not a parent or anyone who can chaperone?

Since the school pays for off duty officers to act as security for these events, I would think that their requests should be granted as a paying customer. Pretty simple.
Is it? Even if the PD didn't have the resources, it's that simple that they should just have 2 officers sitting outside a bathroom doing nothing?

OK, so what if she had another duty that night?

The whole thing just sounds like neither communicated worth a shite and now they are in a pissing match. No need for a facebook bitch-fest.

They both need to be way more professional and just work this out w/o being little bitches. Both look stupid in this deal.

David Prescott was easily the most reasonable coach and teacher I had when I was at Central. He's worked in academics, coaching, or some form of administration for the past 40 years in this area.

The fact that the Chief of Police felt the need to make this a "public" issue and air out his grievances on social media should paint the picture pretty clear to all as to who lacks compromise in this situation.

Some body go find Coach Dejohn and tell him to go finish this stupid political pissing contest.
