know it doesn't work this way but perhaps a warning of some sort saying "don't go this way there's no way back" wouldn't have been a terrible thing.
My understanding was this was uncharted territory. It wasn't known at the time if in fact there was a turnaround farther in.

I would rather throw myself out of a perfectly good airplane without a parachute than die in some tight-arse spelunking hole in the ground. frick all of that.

John's wife Emily would get it

Really dumb question... the actual video they are showing.. is that the actual guy that died? Doesn't quite look like him from the picture.
I could be, but is that a bit morbid to have actual video of the guy who died?

I went to Enchanted Rock near Austin in 2010 with friends. One of them showed us the entrance of tunnels and said he used to go through them as kids with flashlights. We only had those old flip cell phones.
When I heard there were areas that might require crawling through tight spaces, I convinced everyone it wasn’t the best idea.

Agreed.
I can see the appeal to this:
But cannot understand this:

Yeah, that ain't for me. I've been in Ruby Falls and a few similar caves and that's enough for me.

Watched most of the video. You can safely log this one under "What the hell were you thinking?"

I watched that whole thing. Horrible all around. That is not my idea of a good time. So sad for his child and pregnant wife. Pretty reckless on his part.

My ex gf and I did the Wild Cave tour at Mammoth Cave in Kentucky years ago. It involved lots of crawling, wedging through tight spaces, etc. I bailed half-way through that tour..just too many claustrophobic spaces for me. GF finished it..it was a lot easier for her as she is 5'2", 105 lb.
I went out and did the regular tourist tour while she finished. She said that the spaces got even tighter in the second part of the tour so I'm glad I bailed when I did. That was the end of my wild caving experience for a lifetime.

I gave her an extra 6 inches while you were gone. Shouldn’t have left bro.

This is an interesting trapped in a cave video on youtube as well, Internet Historian, so it has a humor aspect to it.

Is that the real name? It’s a comical name for something tragic like this.
Reminds me of the Bunny Friend Park Massacre.

Sorry but that's Darwin award right there. Anyone going into a 12in opening not knowing what's on the other side is looking for death. I'd never go into a cave that fricking small. I didn't lose anything down there.

I think this entire activity is an absurd risk. Go jump out of a plane or dive with sharks if you're a thrill seeker but that was ridiculously tight quarters. No way.
