So a guy just working his job complied with instructions, got shot for his trouble, and his killer faced a whopping 5 years because he was a cop? Awesome.
quote:

Dennis Gordon, an honor graduate of the parish police academy, was charged with shooting Donald Herkes. on Jan. 30 while searching for suspects in an attempted bank robbery. One-deputy was killed in the robbery. If convicted, Mr. Gordon sould be sentenced to five years in prison.

Mr. Herkes and his brother, Robert, were working under a house near the Metairie Bank and Trust Company when Parish deputies and New Orleans policemen converged on the scene, looking for two men who had tried to rob the bank.

Robert Herkes said the officers shouted for them to come out from under the house and when Donald emerged with plumbing tools in his hands, he was shot.

I will say from my experience that most people in North Baton Rouge are genuinely good folks that have to deal with this type of frickery day in and day out.

While I don't disagree with your statement, these "mostly good folks" tolerate and even condone this ghetto/thug culture that is destroying our nation. Nothing will get better until those within these communities are willing to accept some responsibility for their own neighborhoods.

At this time, police do not have any suspects and the motive for the shooting is unclear

Now El Guacho will start using this information in every thread about affordable housing not being available

These affordable houses are widely available, from just north of LSU, all the way to Exxon, then NE, E, and SE of Exxon. It would seem to an outsider that Exxon caused the blight and urban Decay.

Yes, Exxon absolutely caused murderous thugs to grow up in fatherless homes with mothers who really don’t care if their sons or daughters live or die.

By your logic, surely there must be Exxon facilities in Detroit, Jackson Miss, New Orleans, Memphis, etc….right?

It's not a small minority. It's literally at least 50% of black men in Baton Rouge between 13 and 30. Their families protect them. The women of the same age bracket really are no better but they aren't committing many violent crimes. It's also hard to be raised in that environment and not become a part of it.

Many people are also trapped there and are scared of retaliation. Going to take a long time if ever to get it back to some sort of community and place where business can thrive.

Unbelievable to get murdered while doing a job. Doesn’t appear there were any arrests. Any updates on this story. Surprised a young man gunned down in the streets is barely front page news in BR.

Exxon was there first, employed a shite ton of people, neighborhoods were built in the surrounding area.

White flight is the reason, not Exxon.

If the local authorities truly know the "small minority of individuals" committing this heinous bullshite, it's time to stop the games and put an end to them.

Where I live, the gangs and the cops have summits... pisses me the heck off. If they know who these turds are, deal with them, don't compromise with them.
