Surprised not to see Austin on the list. I’ve lived there since 2007 and can count on one hand the number of people I’ve me that actually grew up there.

Greenville is my favorite downtown on this list. But yeah, it has exploded big time.

Austin is wayyyyy overpriced. Why pay 500k+ for a 30 year old ranch house 45 minutes from downtown when you can get a bigger, newer house in an area close to mountains and beaches?

Honestly some conservative upwardly mobile blood is not a bad thing for some of these meth havens. The people I’ve actually met who’ve moved to Upstate SC from Midwest and NW have been coming to join and not change the political culture here.

One lady totally shocked me. 2021. We were sitting in a cafe and she came up to us and started asking us about the area, with a thick French accent. She was from Seattle via N California. I was shocked when she started railing on the Dems and COVID Nazis and riots etc. hopefully she appreciates the relief.

(I referred her to my relative who’s a RE agent. She bought a house a couple months later.)

This unfortunately doesn't surprise me. Developers are chopping down every tree on every plot of land that's left to stack bullshite houses on top of each other.

Agreed. If you can make the career thing work, who would choose Austin over the Carolinas or Tennessee? Sadly those places will all be ruined by all of the transplants though.

Agree 100%...Texas is trash,... Carolinas, Tennessee, Georgia is where it's at.

I haven't been to Myrtle Beach in about 20 years. I imagine I'd be shocked to see what it looks like today.

The majority of transplants post Covid have been Republican voters fleeing high tax blue states during and just post Covid.

Are some of them culturally different? Sure.

But FL for example went from purple state to hard red because of, not in spite of a mass migration from blue states.

We don’t need those damn Yankees here. They can keep their Marxist policies and high tax rates in New York and California thank you very much.

Im moving my family out that way. Only thing keeping us here is some very old family members and one daughter waiting to graduate high school. Then bye. Once you’ve spent 2-3 weeks out there, you don’t want to stay here.

For me the tipping point was just how nice people are at gas stations, waffle houses, grocery stores. You can tell people just live better there.

I get it. Wonderful part of the country. I’d happily move to the triangle if the opportunity presented itself.

My parents just moved to Asheville and I’m so glad to have a reason to go there a couple times a year now.

Austin is played out. It’s been LA East for a decade at least.
