That was the price a week ago that you didn’t agree to. Unless you have a buyer’s order for that price you are SOL. I bet you wouldn’t complain if the price changed downward, so get out of here with this they can’t change the price nonsense

In what universe would a car’s value go up sitting on a lot an additional day? (And with a full cash offer no less)

In no world. They don't send you home with a quote to mull over. That cycle would last forever and the dealership would never make a sale.

They should have honored the price, UNLESS they told OP before he left the lot that the price quoted had a sunset.

They might have added in an “accessory package” perhaps? I’d check on that.

This is easily explained

They looked at you…. Then they saw your wife and knew the only way she was with you is bc you were loaded

They figured you were good for the $2k

If they had limited, and perhaps in that day diminishing, supply of the model and multiple people poking around

I’m assuming a lot of Carnac pricing is algorithmic so maybe 2 local cars of that General model, 1 sold, and 30 people clicking on them for instance

If your wife created a foot page on OnlyFans, you would not have to be bothered by an extra $2,000 on a car.

Definitely don’t pay any price Carmax is asking. They are way behind the curve when it comes to car pricing. They still think inventory levels are low and the covid pandemic is affecting car prices. With the interest rates high and the car inventory levels high, it’s a buyers market. Be ready to walk away if they won’t sell it for what you are willing to pay for it.

Carmax does not care if you pay cash or finance. Their terms are their terms regardless. New car stores? Yeah dont tell them or they wont discount

Negotiate? Do you even Carmax bro?

I’ve had to buy 2 vehicles in the last year and the carmax, drivetime, and public autos, were really miserable.

They’re definitely nicer than beater cars but incredibly inflated to what you can find if you’re willing to go out of the way.

I showed a guy at public auto 7 different versions of what I wanted that were within 50 miles and 30-50% less than what he was asking. He just said “then go get it there.”

I get not wanting to negotiate a lower cost from their perspective but i guess things aren’t so bad that they won’t let business walk out the door.

When I bought my wife’s last car, every place I left asked what they could do to get me in a car today.

We actually had decided on her current one but needed to get home and they knocked $2k off the cost just because we said “we’ll let you know.”

Prices are subject to change. I've walked into businesses many times where the same product went up in price all of a sudden.
