Welcome baw! Do you need a suspension lift to go with your complimentary truck nuts (insurance premiums not included)?

I just got the sticker shock for when my son gets his license, then it hit me, my paranoid wife has us with max coverage, so I called back and had them separate the truck I got my son into it’s own policy with the state minimum coverage, it lowered his insurance from $4000 per year to $1300. When he gets his license and his insurance goes into affect I might up some until it’s around $1800 per year where I’m still comfortable. This is with Geico. The important thing is to get the kids off the policy with your newer more expensive vehicles which effects their rates and to have the option to play with the coverage on their older less expensive vehicles. Doing this we’ll be paying around $2700 for max coverage on our vehicles and $1300 to $1800 on son’s truck. Also, if your kids have good grades it effects their rates a good bit, my son’s C average ain’t cutting it, but if your kids make good grades make sure insurance knows it.

Don’t know, but he’s off of our policy and we’re all on his policy because they won’t write a policy for anybody under 18. The Geico agent was a Louisiana sales person so they knew our laws, I’m assuming what they did is legal.

Yes, all household members need to be listed on a policy but they don’t all have to be listed as “active” drivers.

Maybe if the defense bar improved it would tamp down all these huge awards.
That's one possibility.
Another possibility would be judges actually enforcing 863 and State Police/DAs actually going after plaintiffs, lawyers and doctors for insurance fraud.

You should call Ol’ Greg at go auto for a quote. Or have your wife do it. I think he cuts milfs a better deal.

Are you under 25? What do you drive? That matters too.
My wife and I pay less for both of us. They bend you over when you are young.

Advocate article
Lib soyboy article..Single women can’t drive, it’s science hahaha. But it got me thinking about JBEs corrupt trial lawyers and reforming injury law..
Allstate’s mayhem, Geico lizard, Progressive’s Flo....how much do these companies pay for advertising geez
so, I pay insurance tons of money a month, how do I know the insurance company isn’t using my money to pay for those ads?
Louisiana it’s criminal not to have car ins. I dunno about other states.
Is this like a conflict of interest between the state and insurance companies?

Wait till they have to pay the taxes on your vehicles when you get the license switched over.

Somebody’s shittin ya with that line. Your kid is just getting his license at 18??? You’re also on the hook for damages exceeding his limits if they can prove he gets support from you and that is an easy threshold to cross. Bet his premiums are coming out of your account?

Is it the people without insurance, the plaintiff attorneys, the amount of people with the lowest level insurance allowed by law (15-30k for property/bodily harm barely covers anything), or all three?

Kid is about to turn 16, I was just getting my ducks in a row before he gets his license in a couple weeks, that’s why we’ll all be on his policy, because he’s not 18, I just separated the vehicle he’ll be driving so I’m not paying for 250/500/100, right now it has state minimum just so it’s insured, when he gets his license I’ll probably bump it to 100/200/50 or something like that

Once it goes through U/W they will amend the policy to bring liability limits up to your other autos. The person you’re dealing with doesn’t understand “stacked limits” but the company will, good luck.

This is a bad strategy, being penny wise and pound foolish. You’re putting everything you own at risk by lowering your coverage on your riskiest driver. Your agent should have cautioned you against this but based on the advice I would bet you’re with a direct insurer (Geico, Progressive) who don’t have licensing requirements for call center operators.
Don’t take risk management advice about the riskiest thing your family does from a call center operator who makes barely over minimum wage and has no knowledge of insurance, a complex, contractual product that otherwise requires a licensing exam. Go to an agent who knows what they’re doing, it won’t cost you anymore than buying direct from Geico or anyone else.
The better strategy would be don’t buy junior his own car if you cannot afford the same limits you buy for yourself. If you’re set on buying his own car, be prepared to pay the extra premium, which you cannot avoid if you have 3 drivers and 3 cars. ‘Splitting off’ the car is impossible from a legal perspective if he’s a minor and you own the car.
