I backed into one of my other vehicles in my own driveway (I know, I'm a dumbass) and made a claim for the repairs. I just received my policy renewal last week - the monthly rate increased by $220! It makes me want to go buy property in a neighboring state and claim residency.

Two words:

Tort reform

Texas has it, Louisiana doesn’t.

Since this is not a victimless crime and hurts all of us, I say imprison them after 2nd or 3rd offense for life.

According to the insurance institute, the percentages of uninsured drivers are similar.

Myth?

"Louisiana ranks near the middle of the pack when it comes to drivers with no insurance."

You chose the wrong insurance company unless your driving record sucks.

I pay 5940 per year for: two vehicles, two side by sides, a 4wheeler, a boat, a jet ski, and a small tractor.

You got two kids listed as drivers?

There are tons of illegals driving around Texas uninsured.

Louisiana needs to lower its jury threshold for starters. Too many frivolous lawsuits being paid out by insurance companies.

No. But I'm in my early 30s and have had three total loss claims in the last 4 years. One was my fault... Possibly two.

Scratch that, four and two.

Forgot about the hit and run when a guy ducked out during the ice storm.

well then don't compare rates. Kids damn near can double premiums on policies alone.

I moved back to Texas from Louisiana officially in January when I sold my house in Monroe. Even though my anus got violated selling my home in that shite real estate market, at least my auto insurance is massively lower.

But the insurance agents in Louisiana are friendlier than anywhere else in the country.

Two old ladies hit me and totaled two separate vehicles. One ran a stop sign and tboned me. One was turning into a driveway and did the same.

One side by side was totaled because a bad trans locked up the arse end and sent me cartwheeling across a field.

And one baw in an f250 hit me during the ice storm then fled the scene.

not at faults still matter a lot, you're probably stuck where you're at for a while.
