New Honda Passport is going to absolutely slaughter the 4runner in sales:
-$7k less
-more interior room
-better looking
-nicer interior
-tried and true non turbo v6
-made in USA so no tariffs
Incredible that Toyota has shot themselves in the foot like this

I hope that Nissan and GM are seeing the MSRP on these 4Runners and consider making a 4 door SUV based off their Frontier and Canyon/Colorado.
Ford already makes a Ranger-based SUV called the Everest that I’ve seen in other countries. In New Zealand specifically it was probably the most common new SUV I saw there. Wish they would bring it to the states.

Hybrid and/or 4 cylinder in a Mid-Full size suv = PASS

This 4cylinder 4Runner is none of that...
Then don’t buy it.. go buy a used 4Runner. Or a V8 Tahoe. Or literally anything else. If they are overpriced and people don’t buy them, then they will either adapt or die off.
You also picked the most expensive model out of the entire lineup.

Better buy the extended, extended warranty.

That's a massive distinction. What they are "used" for and what a TRD is "capable" of are completely different things and to be clear no...a TRD is not like a minivan.

With this and the price of the new Sequoia and Tacoma, Toyota is losing interest to a lot of middle class folks that have been buying their vehicles for decades.
It’s a shame

Agreed.
I don't tow my car or my boat every day with my truck, but I need it when I need it

I know Toyotas will run forever, but their interiors are so damn bland. When i test drove mid size SUVs, the Rav4 was 5 years behind on controls, tech, and interior. The screen looked 480 resolution

I think Honda will sell more Ridgelines if they make them look like the new Passport.

The iPad screens that aren’t integrated into the dash is the worst interior look and needs to die.

Austrailians are able to purchase a single cab, 4wd, 6 speed stick shift, 2.2l diesel Ranger.
Mexico has had the Hilux since the late 80s with any configuration you can think of(22r
)...the government ruins everything man. Not nearly as big of a fan of the newer Hiluxes but from 1983-2008 that may be the best built truck to never be sold in America. We didn't get a 4 door Tacoma until 2001, almost 20 years after the rest of the world.

Only retards are spending 69K on a 4Runner. There are several 4WD options in the 45-55K range. You can still get a good 4Runner for a decent price.

Yep. I just sunk some money into my 2015 Tacoma because this new lineup made me realize I would ride mine until it dies. I love the look of the new vehicles, but I don’t see the value in trading what I have for one.

I'm in the minority, but I'm not a huge hybrid fan.
The more I read, the more my opinion is that hybrids just add another complex system to a vehicle that is typically already very efficient.
In other words, too much sugar for a dime
The 4Runner has always been endearing to 4Runner enthusiast because of it's simplicity. We, any many others, bought a 4Runner knowing it's not the fastest, not the most fuel efficient, not the most overloaded with tech and massive screens, but you can count on the 5th Gen getting you there and back for many trouble-free miles/years at a modest price. We currently intend to keep ours for the long haul. They took all of those qualities that people loved and threw them in the trash. Now it's just another over-teched, overcomplicated, overpriced SUV that still doesn't get that great of mileage with crappy packaging for the hybrid/turbo crap.
Also, it's ugly. The catfish/double Hulk mustache is terrible. Someone found out the Tacoma front end is a direct bolt on, I suspect this swap to get pretty popular.

In many ways it seems like a compliance vehicle - ditching the bulletproof reliable V6 and 5 speed in exchange for a turbo 4 cylinder hybrid. Consumers didn't ask for that.
Preach brother!

To be fair, if you live in either NOLA or Baton Rouge, you probably use that extra ground clearance and off-road ready suspension on the daily
