can you imagine the mold and mildew in that building now?
Its probably not really that bad. I worked on the tenth floor during the time of the hurricane, and we have been back a few times to gather what personal items we still had left after the demo crew stole what items they wanted for themselves. Pretty much anything that could hold any moisture for mold and mildew to live was removed, carpet, sheet rock, insulation, ceiling tile, etc. It was basically stud walls and wires.

They'll have more details on the story tonight in local news. I'm glad to hear it will be repaired. I'm curious as to all of the details in the lawsuit. Is the insurance just not wanting to pay for everything?
Converting it to mixed use would be a good idea in my opinion. Rename it to Resilience Tower or something cool, rather than after a bank that no longer owns it.
Also, I think it should be redesigned so that the windows are more inset into the building, if possible. The other large buildings in downtown Lake Charles are designed like that, and it seems that they did not have as much window damage as that tower did.
Also, to those of you who said that there were rumors it would be torn down: what were your sources?

Convert it to condominiums while the market is hot.
Put a restaurant or two in there and don’t make it exclusive bullshite and I think you have something nice.
But I’m sure installing the tools needed to operate an restaurant there would be insanely expensive.

Word is repairs will begin soon. Really needs to be demolished. Put something more reasonable there.

should already be there if im not mistaken from the old city club back in the day.
100% needs a redesign on the windows
100% needs to be mixed use and have restreaunts.

They could do it nice and right, but I doubt they do. Our offices were in there and I don't miss the place at all.
The first floor needs to be retail space, starbucks, NY Bagel, etc...
They've had the nicest restaurant view in town up on the 22 floor but never got much traction after Calcasieu Marine closed the City Club and Mazen opened his own restaurant.
The old deli on the 5th floor had some sneaky good food.
I'd make it mix use as well with the first few floors office space and the top floors condos.

Lake Charles can have a loop or one downtown highrise, but not both. The city out kicked its coverage for a while.

Seriously, Lake Charles needs more office space like …..
Posted on 4/7/22 at 5:18 pm to JAGuyHeh
There's not a chance in hell that entire place is worth that much in renovating costs.

Does not compute
That title goes to L'Auberge du Lac, at 26 floors and 343 ft. Just behind those two, the Golden Nugget chimes in at 25 floors and 288 ft. Not bad for a city its size.

Mixed use would be ideal for sure. Some retail, a couple restaurants, and the rest condos and you could have that place pretty packed.

Shame, would make an awesome high rise meth lab with meth condos.
