I work for Campus Federal Credit Union in Baton Rouge. Anyone looking to bank local should give us a shot. We have great rates and people who actually answer the phone.

But their technology sucks arse

bullshite. I prefer to do some transactions in person. And again, if I’m gonna withdraw a large sum of cash, I want to do it at a bank. Not an ATM.

You sound like the perfect Cap One customer with this shite.

The only reason I still have an open account with Capital One is because they offer a debit card with no foreign transaction fees (so I can pull money out of any atm for cheap when I travel). All of my other banking is through Chase, from credit cards to car loan to mortgage. Zero issues.

Capital One is an incredibly bad bank. It’s like they try to figure out ways to be bad. They go out of their way to hassles customers.
I switched to Chase they have an incredible online banking system.

I keep one account open with Regions simply if needed out of state. All other personal and business are with Investar. John Deangelo runs a good ship and I highly recommend this Baton Rouge based bank.

Chase Bank once refused to speak to me about a car loan. Said they could only speak to my wife. Even though we were Co-borrowers and we were both on the call on speakerphone.

Bank local if you can.

I am, my wife and I finally joined our separate accounts into one with Hancock/Whitney. The only reason I was banking with Capital One was because they bought out Hibernia Bank who I had an account with since the early 90's..

Screw 'em, not anymore...

Speaking as an attorney: blame the idiot customer who took advantage of this at some point, which caused such an issue that they felt compelled to issue a company-wide policy on the subject.

I guarantee they didn't do it for funsies.

I moved all accounts to my local credit union years ago. The benefits are insane ($400-600 in dividends every year), the customer service is peerless, there's a branch 2 minutes from my house, their online/mobile banking meets all my needs.

Purely my opinion, but unless you have a business account or do a lot of international travel, you'd have to be an idiot to bank with a big national chain.

Funny I’m dealing with the same thing. Might be the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with.

People will disagree and throw a bit of fit...but of all the national banks, the best is Chase by a long shot. Now if you’re broke and constantly dealing with fees, I hear they’re terrible.

The access and mobile platforms from Chase make it a far superior bank experience than anything I’ve ran across recently.

Their app is excellent but do not use them for anything other than simple banking or credit cards. Their mortgages are shady as hell: you can pay extra towards the principle but they won’t actually apply it, they will only keep the extra on file to apply towards future principle payments when they come due so the amortization table and payment schedule never change.

Citation?

Because considering this is on their website, that would be grounds for a class action lawsuit: LINK

ETA: And this is the language from the calculator on my actual, signed in, mortgage page:

"This amortization estimator is a planning tool only. It lets you see how you could reduce the length of your original loan amortization schedule by making additional payments toward your principal. You can try out a one-time additional payment to your principal, calculate a fixed additional monthly payment to your principal or both."

I tried Investor, but I needed to have a check scanner at my office. They didn't offer that a few years ago. Yes, unlike what millennials may tell you, some people still need a physical bank. Safety Deposit boxes, deposit and withdraw large amounts of cash, onsite business relationship if you have a business.
