If you are so efficient that you can do more in fewer hours, why would you not fill that time up with more work?
Depends on if you're salaried, hourly, or paid per service (doctor seeing a patient, mechanic fixing a car, salesman making a sale). Some of these financially reward efficiency more or allow fewer hours at work if possible.

Absolutely
You should see my dad. Works from home, doesn’t get out of bed til noon, barely leaves his house, uses a car to walk the dog...but he is consistently called upon as an expert in his field and continues to get plenty of work.

I’ve made a pretty good career that way.

If I can work enough to make a good income, put some money in the bank, take care of all my needs in a manner - I'd rather use that extra time for hobbies like trying to figure out to play golf, reading, fishing, writing, I'm a happier person (I don't work a set work xxx hours a week schedule have specific PTO, etc.)
I don't disagree with that. I am self-employed so I set my own schedule.
Edit: If you can get your chores/work done faster than others, how can you be lazy? Generally people who work fast are the opposite of lazy.

Work is so overrated.

He doesn’t use a leash. He just does it on his property

It's not that I'm lazy Bob. It's that I just don't care.

It depends on what type of work. I practice the piano almost every day for at least an hour, which is work - but I also enjoy it.

That's the best kind of being pretty good at what you do.

That's a hobby. Photography is mine, it ain't work.
5 years after we leave our current jobs, we will all be replaced by someone who can do it as well regardless of what we think.

Apparently Shaq was really lazy. He was pretty good at what he did.

Uhh yeah. I can think of countless examples.

here is a story (apocryphal) about an officer talking about what to do with specific combinations of smart/dumb and hard working / lazy.
Smart and lazy was a prized group because those individuals will try to find you the most efficient way of doing something in order to spare themselves a lot of headache.
The combo of dumb and hardworking are the kinds of people you want to get rid of ASAP because they will keep fricking up things because they want to put in effort but aren’t competent to do so.
I think the officer you mentioned was in charge of the US nuclear program. He identified the 4 types of people he saw when hiring. He wanted the "lazy genius" type because they made life better for everyone.

It’s essentially the core antagonistic dynamic between management and labor.
Management is trying to get the most production they can while paying the least. And, by my Ken, it’s an unwise strategy. You’ll end up losing your best workers because a good worker knows his value, and if management listens to bean counters and squeezes the workers too much, they’ll just find a better gig.
In most things, you get what you pay for. Proof is in the pudding
