Personal Shopper (running the errands like buying groceries and “a new pack of white undershirts”): $65 per hour at 4 hours a week = $13,5250 a year. Chef (lunch and dinner): $240 a week = $12,480 a year.

I cant believe this is even a real thing.

I agree with all of this. My wife stays home with ours too. It is nice not having to worry about doctors appointments and everything else.

I know you have a nanny, but for those that use daycare, I couldn't imagine having to coordinate who is bringing them and who is picking them up. Leaving earlier in the morning to drop them off doesn't sound appealing to me. Then if they get sick, someone has to get them. I would rather not deal with any of that

I view what she does as every bit as important as what I do, and I am not being patronizing. Sure she gets to spend two hours in the gym and do nice stuff, but it doesn't make me feel resentful, it makes me feel like the paterfamilias. Feels REAL good to come through for the family and work hard. Mrs. Pimp has an accounting degree and has been a good earner earlier, but once she started staying home our family of five started purring

We are 6+ hours away from family and still getting used to her not being home with him all day. It was definitely easier when she would just stay home.

Luckily my work schedule is really relaxed. As long as I don't have a meeting, I can work from home. Hit us last week when the daycare called because our son had "thrown up". Pretty sure he just spit up a lot, because he wasn't sick in the least and never did it again around us. Their rules didn't allow us to send him back for 24 hours, so I had to stay home. You learn really quickly that you can't get much done dealing with an infant all day

Mind asking how much she made before? How much you make now?

Mrs. Pimp made like 60k to 80k a year in general accounting and also as a mortgage broker. I had to replace that income, so I had to commit to being a real earner. I'm a 100% commissioned, self-employed guy and doing very well after some serious setbacks. Too many people know me IRL so I don't want to say what I make, but it's more than I dreamed 7/8 years ago, that is for sure. Mrs. Pimp assists me two hours a day or so with my business as well. Once we got to a certain income level it just seemed silly to trade her money for all the disorganization within the family we had. It felt like we were always scrambling and always playing catch-up. Mrs. Pimp stays home now and has whipped stuff into shape. Anybody who knows me, knows I do well because of the help and focus my wife brings to my life. She schedules all my business appointments and gets really fired up about my gig.

Wife stays home with our little ones too. Once all of them get to school age, she will probably go back to work. Like someone else said, it's a lot to do with trusting others with the formation of young kids.

I know my wife has their best interest at heart. Daycare has the group's best interest best case and worst case they are just trying to keep your kid in as good as shape as u dropped him off in.

Their commitment to put the care of the child first is admirable - but the guy in the article is beta as frick.

That might be the dumbest fricking article I have ever read. If you choose to be parents, you choose to take care of the child.

Don't place a monetary value on what you do. I do my own fricking laundry, but I don't think about what I should pay myself for doing it or that I cannot "afford" to do my laundry.

It's just ridiculous logic. That guy's an idiot.

So are you going to let them go to school and get out in the world? Or just shelter them at home until they hit 18 and then they'll rebel like crazy when they realize what's out in the world?

Wife stays home with the kids, it's worth it if you can do it.

If we have a second child, my wife will most likely end up staying home for good. But kids will go to daycare or one of the "schools" for toddlers in the area. At least a few days a week to get social interaction and get a jump on learning before heading to elementary school. Kids, especially only children, can have a hard time adjusting to school when all they know is their mom.
