Can anyone explain why the ramp on to I-10 West to Lafayette is being blocked by police. I had to get on I-110, make a u-turn to get back to I-10 West to cross the bridge and get home.

Hate to break it to you but there isn't an I-10 East ramp to Laffayette.
Next time try I-10 West and you may get home sooner.

Thanks for pointing out my directional mistake. I hope you had clear sailing home.

Only kidding . . . and I did have smooth sailing home, but it helps when you live a couple miles from campus.
In the future I would advise parking so that you avoid Nicholson. Nicholson going North and South always sucks. For some reason the geniuses that come up with traffic plans always change it from year to year and game to game. This year they decided once again that Nicholson heading south doesn't need contra flow! WTF???
A couple of years ago we had a parking pass that forced us to use Nicholson instead of River Road to get home and it would take us a couple of hours to get home (a couple of miles from campus). Now we use the levee lots and get home in 15 minutes once we get to the car.

Actually, I take Highland north under the interstate and left on a cross street and back south for a short distance and on to the ramp west bound over the river. This ramp has was blocked when I went to the Auburn game and last night. I believe that there's another ramp closer to the river that may be open. It's just being able to get to it on Nicholson.
This was a very quick way to get over the river until this year. I may do like you and get on the River Road next time.

I'm not recommending River Road North. I take it south. Right now River Road North would be a cluster frick since they are doing construction and it doesn't go all the way through to Nicholson.
If you are happy with the flow of traffic down highland then I recommend taking Highland and cut over to Nicholson once you get close to the bridge. The on ramp that you are referring to is on Nicholson just past Past Time.
Other options are to park in an area that gives easy access to Perkins Road and catch the I 10 W on ramp from Perkins Road or Acadian. This route may be out of your way but faster in the long run.

What the heck was the hold up on Nicholson heading north to to I-10? Traffic literally say at a standstill for close to an hour. Nothing moving. Left lanes not even being used. That was a complete cluster.
That's where we were, and I can confirm, traffic did not move 1 inch until after midnight. People got out of their cars and were standing in street or sitting on cars.
I live in South BR. I got home at 1:30 am. Never seen anything like it. I can only imagine there must have been a bad accident somewhere down the road. I did see EMS vehicles and tons of cops go by at one point.

We actually did pass by that Chevron. I'm pretty sure even cops are scared to park at that place.

I left from the driving range lot and got back to the Burbank/Lee intersection fairly quick, which was obviously blocked from being able to turn left for whatever retarded reason.. Yet those coming from the opposite side were able to turn right toward college dr.. Went on down to Ben Hur thinking I'd make a U and come back up and they had a barricade at Ben Hur. No cops around though so I just went around it, came back up and turned right, got right on the I-10 at college drive. Cars were crossing over the median and more started going around the barricade at Ben Hur. That's when I realized the cops likely had no idea wtf they were doing

I have been to Auburn, Bama, Uga, Uf, and ole miss. I would say those places are 10000000x bettet than BR on terms of traffic after a game. Not sure why

All those you listed are small towns with so many access points that get you outside of the city within minutes. LSU is screwed with a river on one side and a lake on the other. There are a lot of things, though that I think LSU could do better as it relates to contra flow, however.

Yeah, that parking pass to south stadium sure is nice on the drive in, but after...
1.5 hours to get to Renaissance on bluebonnet

I used to park at City Park and ride my bike in to campus. Sucks for all the faties stuck in traffic.

Baton Rouge has a worse layout than just about any city I've been to. On top of that, LSU isn't in an ideal spot.

Yeah, maybe he's never heard of the Mississippi River that is a few hundred yards from campus There's only one way to cross that beast. Presents quite an issue.

River Road is fully open during games.
