Is there anywhere an updated contra flow map is posted? It seems like the rules change for each game so you can't plan for it. I saw a lot of people last night trying to get from Stanford/LSU ave to Highland outbound, but they just had to turn around and spend extra time in the Acadian line because their intended path was barracaded (not that Highland is a good idea, but something needs to let people know) They could have been out of everyone's way by the time traffic really picked up, but instead the system routed them to make a u-turn and contribute to the traffic problem for a few miles more than they were planning on. In other news, Acadian to Perkins worked great for getting East last night, but who knows next time?

Also, maybe a station devoted to traffic info would help?

I live on Brightside and it took me damn near 3 hours to get home. Up until the Lee/Burbank intersection opened back up at like 12:15 I literally had no way of getting home. None. Sat at the light at the Lee/Burbank intersection for a few minutes short of an hour. No movement, car in park, seat leaned back, playing musical car horns. All I needed to do was cross. Talk about pissed. Whoever came up with those routes is a dumbfrick. Just let the traffic flow freely, in trying to get traffic cleared quicker it has just become much worse.

LOL, Highland and Lee ? You mean the same intersection where before the game with traffic at a stand still you had 6 cops all standing by the light switch box all either talking or on their phones ! WTF do we need to pay overtime to 6 cops at one intersection and NONE OF THEM WERE DOING A frickING THING! Thats always the case there.

Yea, that was us.

The intersection is staffed equally for both pre and post game traffic. We don't set up contraflow before the game.

The only thing we can do to alleviate traffic is manually work the light to pull traffic into campus. That's what you saw, one person working the light and 5 others shooting the shite.

River road contraflow killed me. I parked in that free lot thinking I could take river road to the interstate and head back to Lafayette. Nope. Sent my arse all the way across the city of Baton Rouge

Learned that the hard way about 10 years ago. Florida-LSU always draws a huge crowd.

WTF? Were you crawling?

If you live on campus (Brightside is campus) you should expect this.

Something was really retarded last night.

The cops, obviously. But something happened that caused normal traffic times to double. It was a complete frick job.

It was a Florida game (which always draws huge crowds) and the stadium was packed until the end.

I know if I lived on Brightside I wouldn't be worried about contraflow, my arse would be walking or riding a bike.

Pretty much anything inside of Springlake would have me riding my bike.

I got home at 12:30. Ugh. Parked at friends house who lives off LSU Ave. Thought we'd go to Highland since I live at Highland and Lee.

Nope. Sat on LSU Ave for 45 minutes before turning around and going down Stanford and cutting through those neighborhoods to Lee. Which is a really willy nilly way home.

This was after staying the whole game, walking back to the house, smoking victory cigars, watching game highlights. I couldn't believe it was still so bad at that time.

Wow LSU Ave and Highland was barricaded? That traffic went all the way back to the park where people go running. And so many cops passed on motorbikes. Why wouldn't someone let drivers know they're sitting in a line for a barricaded road? Put a sign up? Something.

What the heck was the hold up on Nicholson heading north to to I-10? Traffic literally say at a standstill for close to an hour. Nothing moving. Left lanes not even being used. That was a complete cluster.

We aren't really a bike city. With how last night looked, that's not the safe option for anyone beyond maybe a single dude. Can't imagine someone putting their kids, grandparents, out of tiwn guests, etc. on bikes to ride across town.

Though I agree I'd be walking or biking from Brightside

If traffic isn't moving where is the risk?

If I lived where you lived I would be biking.

Next time my 60+ year old relatives and or parents come in town I'm going to tell them we are biking to the game on my new fleet of bicycles.
