They’ll be school. But as a parent who has to pick one of my kids up, leaving work, because they’re running fever........ it’s going to get worse. Every time your kid is running a slight fever they’ll be sent home. Coughing....... sent home. It’s going to be a mess.

I guess you haven't actually read what "our government" plans for Phase II.

There are few different ideas being talked about and planned. Starting school a month earlier and a month later then have a 2 1/2 month break over thanksgiving and Christmas and New Years when the virus is more severe.

Another is year around with a few breaks.

LSU has told faculty to prepare for remote teaching. Not saying that'll be the case.

No. Can't agree to that. And hope to hell they have school.

Heck, I went in today to help put packages together for the seniors. Things are moving ever so slowly back to normal.

Hopefully they can go back full time. Like someone said above, maybe they could do two shifts of small classes.

At the absolute last resort, they could go to some sort of blended in person/online set up. Say if a teacher now has 100 students (4 90 minute classes of 25 each), and they wanted to reduce the class size to 10 - each teacher could have 10 classes of 10 - 5 on M&W, 5 on T&TH. Kids could get instruction on the 2 days they go and do the work online on the 3 days they don't Definitely not ideal but it would be infinitely better than all online which I don't think is effective at teaching before maybe the higher college or post grad levels.

They have talked about 2 days a week and 3 days a week with smaller classes, etc...

However, the disruption for parents trying to work then be home with their kids the other days

They need hot freshly prepared meals.

Never understood this thought process. A sandwich is perfectly fine for lunch.

Everyone acts like kids are starving to death and they can’t miss a meal, yet we have the highest childhood obesity rate in history. So, in the middle of a pandemic many school systems’s number one priority was to feed people. I don’t get it!

If they go back and you kid has a fever are they going to make you quarantine them for two weeks? That’s going to be a disaster if so. If a teacher calls out sick or fails a temperature check is the teacher quarantined for two weeks? The whole thing is going to be a big mess.

Kids are fat because they eat crappy processed foods that are high in carbs, and don't exercise enough. A sandwich isn't nearly as healthy as a good hot balanced meal is.

Probably will have to be fever-free for 24/48 hours. If it's a fever plus other symptoms, I don't know. Maybe have to have a negative test and no symptoms to go back?

Its very difficult for the United States to advise and keep people inside. Other countries can have lockdowns and only allow people out once a week with a pass to get essentials and must wear gloves and mask.

One of the main reasons the virus is so bad here and will get much worse this fall.

Here yes there is an advisory for people but people still going grocery shopping 2-3 days a week, Lowes and Home Depot are booming in business, and a really lax approach. Can basically do anything except eat out, hair and nails.

Hospital systems and many other businesses are preparing for the worst this fall.

I know, I cant stand it when my kid has flu like symptoms and the Tylenol I drugged him up with wears off too soon.

I’m still trying to figure out WTF we’re doing with this virus. None of this makes any sense.

They are fat because their calorie intake is too damn high! If they where at a healthy BMI and had health issues then we could say it was a nutritional imbalance, but that’s not the case. A sandwich is a lot less calories than an entree with two sides and a piece of fruit.

If schools, among all the other places, are still shut down in the Fall, then shut this whole planet down. We're just fricking doomed if this is still the same 4 months from now.

I don't think that's the case at all. I think exactly as was proposed, we stabilized, so now have to remain diligent but get back to everything.

Keep an eye on Fauci, if he continues this calling for school and sports closures it'll get interesting to see what happens.

The sheep listen to him and parents are already calling our office saying they are not sending their kids back in the fall

I'm sure you mean well, but respectfully, you're out of your element in this discussion. People tend to only think of these things in regards to their own personal circle/demographic. There are communities of people wildly different from the one you know, and these programs exist to help those innocent children.

Feeding a child a sandwich for lunch every single day from now until the end of next school year is a very terrible idea. Kids don't GAF about nutrition or starvation. They'll starve to prove a point. It isn't wise to have kids who are already not receiving nutritious food at home throwing their lunch away every day because it has been the same item for 200+ days.

I'm the queen of CICO, so believe me. I get what you're saying. It is an entirely different ballgame when we are talking about developing children, especially children whose parents give them a bag of Hot Cheetos for dinner and call it a day.
