Again, the purpose of shutting everything down was to prevent our medical system from being overwhelmed.

If predictions are that opening schools will not overwhelm our medical facilities, we will and should open schools.

Shut downs are not and never have been about reducing deaths to zero. At this point, we know who the most vulnerable are. They stay home. Simple.

Several countries in Europe have already opened their schools.

We can use them as models.

So you’re going to find a way to get public school class sizes down to 10 to 15 kids at most? That’s why they’re able to open classes in Europe. Most of those countries have significantly smaller class sizes than the US.

That’s going to be single biggest hurdle in this. It’s virtually impossible to social distance in an American classroom with teacher to student ratios as high as 1 to 30.

No only will there be school, in the fall, districts around me that have been virtual since March are having in person graduation ceremonies as previously scheduled.

Here in Mississippi my daughter's high school graduation is still on in June. Outside on the football field.

The election will be getting close so democrats will fight tooth and nail to keep things closed down.

There are promising signs that kids aren't really transmitting this virus.

That’d be great if there were only kids in the building. My school has over 100 staff members between teachers, non-instructional, and admin.

From what I hear is happening in my wife's (no pics) school district

-Extended M-Th half kids in AM and half in PM
-No lunch room (kids will get bag lunches in the room)
-No extracurricular activties
-No school on Friday
-Supplemental learning with Google Classroom

But if we did as Europe does with double the amount of teachers, wouldn't that make it even worse?

If you don’t live in a nursing home and/or don’t have multiple underlying conditions, then you have almost nothing to worry about

Our district has 3 plans as of now, 1) splitting the kids between day and evening, 2) 100% virtual, and 3) virtual/teacher hybrid with some teaching live with Zoom and and rest Virtual.

No one thinks business will be as usual come the fall

I can almost guarantee you it won't, we are getting already push back from parents not feeling safe to send their kids back.

And with Fauci out there saying kids can't go back it's going to happen unless they shut him up

I do wonder what will happen when a teacher or student test positive at a school

I attended a meeting yesterday and my high school's middle school and high school football program is gearing up for a June 1st start.

We are having school and playing football.

I live in Georgia.

And we elect Republicans as Governor.
