They worked on this for 10+ years and spent millions of dollars for a much larger shoulder? They expanded to what looks like it could be 3+ lanes in multiple spots but turned all the additional space created from construction into a large shoulder. Was someone’s brother’s construction company struggling and needed work? It seems like a whole lot of construction for no benefits.

Think they are adding a lane each way over 190. Least that’s the rumor I’ve heard.

It was far worse when it was 2 lanes but I don't know why they just didn't make it 4 while they had it torn up.

They fully widened it from Juban East to around Springfield. They also widened it at several other bridges so that they can quickly widen it fully when they get funding. It’s more economical for the bridge building to be done all at once.

Dude they have been some kind of construction going on I-12 since the summer before my senior year of high school in 1987. That is just what I can remember it may go back further than that.

Think of all the people that died just before the Denham exit from that crazy s curve. Enjoy that roomy shoulder.

They’re slowly widening piece by piece in stages as money becomes available in order to eventually have all of I-12 be 6 lanes.

My understanding is that when they redid those areas, they went ahead and expanded them now so that when funding eventually comes available to extend the 6-lanes, those places will need little more than re-painting the lines.

They widened all the bridges to Springfield so when they get money they just have to widen btwn the bridges. All the $$$ have moved to Mandeville i12 that is why they are installing the cable barrier system from satsuma to Livingston parish line.

I've dreamed of getting a flat and being able to change it in that huge shoulder.

I don't find myself on 4 to often. Unfortunately, I live on 24 and 680.

Someone has not been paying attention to I-10 construction in East Texas.

Yep. 20-30 minutes from my place in Walnut Creek to the city instead of 60-70.

What about the construction on 10? Adding a third lane for 5 miles is gonna take 7 years?

They want to make it bigger so more cars can go on it.

Louisiana DOTD finally does something right by pre-planning for expansions when re-doing the bridges...still gets flack.

Proof you can't please everyone, I suppose.
