Louisiana DOTD finally does something right by pre-planning for expansions when re-doing the bridges...still gets flack

I guess I just have zero faith that they will ever actually do the expansion

Louisiana DOTD should never be credited with doing something "right". They have no idea what it means to properly stagger projects so that you don't have every single significant roadway hemmed up, all at one time. That's now how you plan projects. And part of the problem is that they take the low bidder on every project with no questions asked. Even though the next highest bidder would have probably gotten the job done faster with less change orders and overall cheaper than the low bidder, go with the low bidder so you can feel like you really "saved" money. It's like needing a piece of equipment so you go to Harbor Freight to get the el cheapo $100 model that breaks on you after 3 uses rather than spending a little more on something that lasts. That's how DOTD bids projects out.

Seriously, they don't plan worth a shite. We had the least amount of traffic on the roads that I've seen in the last 40 years in the Baton Rouge area. I-10 between Highland and Hwy 73 should have been completed. Instead of being aggressive during a miracle window to get shite done, they sit on their arse and work slower. So now it looks like we're just about back to normal with traffic again, and what do you know? It looks like they still have about six months of work left (including striping and cleaning up).

The long term plan is to 6 lane I-12 the whole way from BR to Slidell. The random work they’ve been doing through Livingston Parish is widening bridges and exits so that when they get the funds to continue the widening it’ll be quicker and easier to do without having to work on any bridges and exits.

I've dreamed of getting a flat and being able to change it in that huge shoulder
to hell with that. I have triple A. If I get a flat in parking lot or at my house yeah I will change it. But if I get one on the interstate there no way I am changing one on the side of the road with way ppl drive around here.

They just started on the Northshore portions. But, the order of priority still seems confusing (starting first between the 59 and 190 exits, then moving West). I don't think that area ever backs up, NOLA commuters aren't taking the Causeway to Slidell. Madisonville to 190 is the traffic jam.
