Can Multivitamins Really Expire?

Found an old bottle of multivitamins in the back of my cabinet. "Expired" about 2 months ago. I can't think of any actual reason not to take them. Can they actually go bad or am I going to survive taking expired multivitamins?

Maybe if they are like expired for like 10 years
A few months fine

Pretty sure they just break down and turn into singular vitamins, or something...

most multivitamins are worthless to begin with so it doesn't really matter

rectal suppository should counteract any expiry affects

Those dates are arbitrary. They’re like those expiration dates that the government forces companies to put on yogurt and other medicine.

Not so much that they go bad....they just lose their strength/effectiveness like medicines do. The same goes with foods. No point in eating canned goods more than 5 years expired, all nutrition is lost by then.

They're useless either way.

After they expire the vitamins become toxic!!

These dates are stability results that have been conducted. After this date the company cannot guarantee the quality of their products.
You'll be fine, but they won't be their "best".

This is debatable. They are very effective at changing the color of your pee.

Expired vitamins do not go bad like food does and they do not turn into poison or toxins. Many expiration dates are set very conservatively because it benefits the supplement company. It is not dangerous to take expired vitamins, but as mentioned, the vitamins will lose their potency

hmm, so let's see. So studies conducted by physicians and pharma companies, the very people that need us to be sick to make money, then mainstream media pounds home the message and we believe when they tell us vitamins are useless? Next time you are in the Dr office, ask your GP for their recommendation.
to each his own...
also do some research on B12/Folate fortification and neural tube defects.

FLAK88, I was capable of googling this myself. Just wanted some knowledge from the omniscient OT.

So pop double the amount. That's what I do with vicodin.

I put some Olive Garden Romano Cheese packets on my Red Zeppelin Pizza yesterday for lunch.
They expired October of 2014. I'm alive.
Do it.

depends on two things
1. what temp were they kept at during the summer?
if they got hot they are 100% done
2. If the cap has already been opened, were they in a location that is moist?
might be done.
probably OK.
heat is the big mistake.
I keep mine in refrigerator in summer.

They stop doing anything after the expiration date.
Which means they don’t change
