Get an 80 series or 100 Series Toyota Land Cruiser. I ditched a modern SUV 5 years ago for an 80 series and haven't looked back. It's my daily driver and we travel in it. Kids like it more than my wife's Honda Pilot.

Do you need a fully functional 3rd row? All 3rd row's are not created equal. A lot of Mid-sized SUV have 3rd row's but, with most of them if you need to sit a full sized adult back there, they are not gonna be happy. Just some food for thought. Also what part of the country are in?

I went from a 4Runner to a Honda Pilot. The Pilot is the way to go if you need adults (or a car seat) to ever be in the 3rd row. The Pilot isn't nearly as good off road, so consider getting the 4WD version if that's a requirement. But both cars will last forever. I had 300k miles on the 4Runner and am at 208k on the Pilot.

GMC Acadia is nice. Has 3rd row seating, the middle row is captains chairs so it is easy to get to the back row of seats. My wife had one and it was very nice, smooth ride and very spacious.

And even then, it's going to be used.

Honestly,in that price range, the Fords with the 3.5l are very dependable and way cheaper than any Asian suv's you could find.

If I got something in the $15K-20K range, I will probably just pay straight up cash. If I get a vehicle for $35K, I will probably have a note for $15K after putting $20K down.

I had no idea you could get brand new 3-row crossovers for mid $30K!

Bruh you started the budget at $15k and now its $35k, wtf. You are being a normal American and about to drop a huge note into your budget.

Have your wife get a van for 3-4 years. You can easily find a reliable mini van in that budget. Drive the minivan for 3-5 years then upgrade her to a SUV when the kids are bigger and you have more money hopefully.

If you're willing to go to a 3 row minivan instead of SUV, you will get a lot more vehicle for your money.

In 2012, I got a 2006 Jeep Commander for 14,000.

Still have it. Has 112,000 miles

Not much to look at but it’s been dependable

Are the Mazda's cheap because they suck or because they're not in vogue?

Mazda has continued to rise in reliability ratings for years. They are right behind Toyota and Lexus now. You still living in the 90s?
