My business has a few tribes as clients. Lets just say they don't get in any hurry to do anything. If not for the Bureau of Indian affairs they couldn't survive. The amount of grant money they receive each year is insane.
ETA: just looked it up. FY2020 they are getting almost 2 Billion. Most of that is grants to the 573 different recognized tribes in the US.

Depends on the tribe and how much money they generate.

They are normal folks like the rest of us, if they live on a reservation they will go through school as a normal US citizen. They have some different laws on the reservation but it is nearly the same as normal laws.
The big difference is that pow-wow's are their 4th of July and they all save their money for that event. The pow-wow is a HUGE event for the reservation where they will dress in their tribe's historical clothing and perform various demonstrations of their tribe. Food is a big part of the event and the dry bread is a can't miss.

But they only wear their stuff at these events, not in daily lives.
Kinda seems phony and it's always, "Dont forget about the Indians "
Welfare indians IMO.

This is accurate. I deal with the BIA fairly often in the course of my business and live around a lot of indians (or natives, or Native Americans, or Indigenous people). The reservations are extremely depressing, they make Bogalusa look cosmopolitan. The majority of the indians I know are unemployed and in poor health, or claim to be. Everyone has their own opinions about why that is and who is at fault (i.e. the white man, the US government, tribal leaders). The ones I know just collect mailbox money, sit around and drink heavily or pop pills, and watch TV. That's really about it. Even though they get A LOT of "free" shite from the tribe - medical care, food etc., their "do-nothing" lifestyle is not an envious one. Indians are kinda the equivalent of white trailer trash. Can usually be found at the liquor store or Dollar General, packed 8 deep in a beat to shite old Ford/Chevy SUV.
Sad story, not much hope or prosperity.
ETA: there's an entirely different subset of people who claim to have indian blood that don't fall in that category. The state I live in, I can find 100 people on the street with blonde hair and blue eyes who swear they're half Creek or Choctaw indian, I assume because of the benefits like cheap healthcare or maybe it's a victim status thing
