This is accurate. I deal with the BIA fairly often in the course of my business and live around a lot of indians (or natives, or Native Americans, or Indigenous people). The reservations are extremely depressing, they make Bogalusa look cosmopolitan. The majority of the indians I know are unemployed and in poor health, or claim to be. Everyone has their own opinions about why that is and who is at fault (i.e. the white man, the US government, tribal leaders). The ones I know just collect mailbox money, sit around and drink heavily or pop pills, and watch TV. That's really about it. Even though they get A LOT of "free" shite from the tribe - medical care, food etc., their "do-nothing" lifestyle is not an envious one. Indians are kinda the equivalent of white trailer trash. Can usually be found at the liquor store or Dollar General, packed 8 deep in a beat to shite old Ford/Chevy SUV.

I remember reading an article about a town called Whiteclay, Nebraska. It is a border town on the SD/NE border, and the Pine Ridge Reservation is on the SD side. This town of just a few people would sell millions of dollars of alcohol in a year because of everyone coming over from the reservation where alcohol is illegal.

Bitch and moan about the white devil stealing all their land. All while discounting the fact that they were doing the same shite to each other thousands of years before white devil got to these sacred shores.

That and gambling, drinking, and drugging.

It's funny that we still call them Indians. Such an American thing to do.

Football?!?!?!? I ain't callin the world's most popular sport that. I'm gonna invent a new sport and call it football, then gonna call your sport somethin else! This is 'Murica, you can get out if you don't like it!

Hell they refer to themselves as Indians as well and a very popular NFL team on reservations would happen to be the Redskins.

There are Indian reservations. Indians have a high rate of alcoholics. A lot of the reservations have their own laws. There are some, but very few, who live a "normal" life.

Someone I know, his mom's sister was married to a man who was legally a native American. His dad was native American and his mom was not full native American. He fought in Vietnam. Then as for as I knew he was the average American who was married with a job and had kids..

So I guess "what Indians do" depend on the opportunities they have.

At 18, I had $440k in my account from our tribe's business. It all depends on tribal leadership too. There are many who only sit on their tribal council to serve for their own interests, and their own section of family.

Then, you have smart business minded people who arent influenced by outsiders, and can look at the examples of other tribes. They learn what not to do, by paying attention. It all depends on who you elect.

Generally see a number of them in the bars for the first week of every month.

Never see them otherwise.
