Who owns Venezia? I like that place.

There is still a Mandina's in Mandeville.

Oh, I didn't know. I thought it had shut down too. I guess maybe Frankie still runs that. I have no idea who owns Venezia.

Pretty sure former mayor Vic Schiro was one of these.

He was in fact.

The Sicilian surnames Schiro/Sciro are Italianized versions of the Albanian surname Skiro.

I was told years ago that I could be Abrëshë, but my folks came from a small town in the mountains south of Palermo, not one of the prominent areas for Abrëshë.

I'll add that to the list of reasons never to move to New Orleans.

Because of the Italians?

According to my grandmother (no pics), after my dad stepped out on my mom (no pics), she told him that my grandfather was friends with the Marcellos and they'd pay him a visit.

I believe she said it - don't think it would've happened. But I know my grandfather used to run with some of those folks in Fat City

I'll have to think about that one and ask around. I did Boy Scouts and went to grade school with a lot of KG kids. But I lived across the Expressway on the river side. We didn't cross the Expressway.

Holy crap. I just might know you.

We didn't cross the Expressway on our bikes, I meant. When we were kids. We certainly went to KG for stuff, When I limited my "stomping grounds" it's where we (me and friends) were able to go on our bikes.

Sorry for the confusion.

River pilots aren't mafia, just lowlife rednecks with a monopoly and a bought and paid for commission that sets their fees.
Oh and they pass the boat keys to their kids.
The main difference is cracklins rather than cannoli.
