Does most of their money come from subscriber fees? Dolts who still have cable? I

Do you think TWC is providing their channel for free to dolts that have streaming tv service?

There are critical weather stories every day. And by the off chance a half day lull pops up they show the avalanche that occurs in the French Alps.

Watch The Weather Channel like it's 1999 with the official RetroCast
Smooth jazz included.

Comedian turned media mogul Byron Allen purchased it a few years ago for chicken feed. When nothing exciting is going on they run stupid weather related reality shows. I imagine their overhead is really low

I just don’t understand their business model, or how they stay in business.

What? ESPN provides sports... news.. CNN/Fox provides news... news And the whether channel provides weather.... news.

Here are some ratings numbers for you.

While I know half the waiting rooms with TVs have the weather channel on all day, most people might turn it on just to see what to expect in the next several days, in terms of weather.. but either way, it works like every other channel.

I don't get it, you can get the same info on your phone in about 15 seconds, why watch TWC for 30 minutes? Must be more to it than meets my eye.

The phrase "woke shakedown" is a highly critical label used by detractors, corporate targets, and conservative commentators to describe Byron Allen’s massive civil rights lawsuits and aggressive corporate pressure campaigns.

Allen, the billionaire CEO of Allen Media Group and owner of The Weather Channel, has spent over a decade weaponizing multi-billion-dollar racial discrimination lawsuits against major corporations, demanding that they carry his channels or drastically increase their advertising spend on Black-owned media. While Allen characterizes his approach as a crusade for "economic inclusion," critics frequently view his high-stakes tactics as corporate coercion.

This right here, not that expensive to run the channel either. They don't really have to spend movie for broadcast rights or creating shows

But they do spend a boat load on developing weather graphics systems and licensing weather data from various providers that has led them to build a brand and solutions company called The Weather Company.

Besides the Weather Channel, they sell weather graphics systems and weather data to TV stations. The highly talked about and some times way off GRAF model is one of their in house proprietary models they license out to broadcast partners.

They also provide weather services to commercial businesses that make decisions on weather.

There's a ton of zombie channels that survive on carriage fees alone and the people who own those channels fight like hell to make sure providers can't cut them out of the bundles.

People pay for all the channels they get whether or not they ever watch a single second of them.

If people could go ala cart most people would pick like 5-6 channels and hundreds of channels barely anybody watches would immediately cease to exist
