Farside and Calvin and Hobbes are both great. I find it funny that several comics have been mentioned here as being like Farside but none have been mentioned as being like C&H.

When I'd visit, she and my Uncle (lawyer at State) and I would read it cover and then discuss the articles. She's still alive and alert at age 93. It is nice to reflect on those times, I don't oft think of them.
soccerfüt, Larson was so great. I would buy The Washington Post every morning just to see his work.
You are a generous, gentle Solon my friend, I hope those around you appreciate you for who and what you are. I know I do.

Far side was funny, but not nearly as funny or deep as Calvin and Hobbes.

soccerfüt, you are too kind. And I have to tell you that the only reason what I bought the Post years ago was for the Far Side (and the Sunday crossword). Back then, and to this day, it is the antithesis of my beliefs. It did turn out to be correct on Watergate.
Good for your aunt still going strong at 93. My Mom turned 88 last December and I think she will outlive me.

My wife got me the complete C&H collection for Christmas. I was ecstatic.
No joke, if I could have dinner with any person, Bill Watterson would be on the short list.
The fact that he could've been wealthy beyond his wildest dreams, but chose not to sacrifice the integrity of his comic strip is an incredible story. He should be a modern role model.

Calvin was great, Bloom County too

Have you see the documentary about C&H?
I bought it on iTunes a couple years ago... It's all about Bill Watterson and how much he changed the documentarian's life

These two were in a class of their own.

I probably liked Bloom County a bit better than Calvin & Hobbes in the 80's. But honestly, it hasn't held up as well. I was reading through one of my Bloom County books last week and a lot of it was specific to the time. Calvin & Hobbes is timeless, and in a lot of ways Watterson was ahead of his time. I get it every morning via email along with Peanuts and some current strips. Get Fuzzy, Pearls, Brewster Rockit are all pretty good. And xkcd on the web is awesome. But I'd have to go with Calvin and Hobbes as the GOAT. Followed closely by the Far Side which is also pretty timeless.

I remember hearing about it about to come out, never got a chance to watch. about to do that

Bloom County was related to politics for the most part. That does get dated after awhile. Damn i miss me some Forked Tongue music.

How do you get daily emails? This interests me

I love how the dad would always mess with Calvin's head and tell him these ridiculous stories

Never heard of this. Does it have a title? I looked on iTunes but wasn't sure what I should be looking for.
