Yes, I do realize what the process entails (although it could actually be accomplished via constitutional amendment permitting states to succeed via state ballot initiative, which doesn't require the support of every state but whatever). Hence, the opening of my post stating ("Ok, so obviously this isn't happening"). The reference to Oregon and Washington following is that if California somehow succeeded (through a constitutional amendment or otherwise), I'd think Washington and Oregon would follow suite.

But I just read through 3 pages of posters saying "Good Riddance" and "Bye Felicia" at the notion of a United States without California. If Cali were to leave (which, to be clear, will not happen), it would severely frick up the U.S.'s budget and economy and render it an all-together different country from what we know now. Do you feel otherwise?

That said, in the fantasy world of a California succession, I'd be trying to immigrate back to the United States proper with a quickness.
