require either the chemical or surgical castration of repeat child molesters.

quote:

Experts said that the new California law was the most severe measure in the nation aimed at child molesters. Similar legislation is being considered in Florida, Michigan, Massachusetts, Texas and Washington.

quote:

The law requires that anyone -- men and women -- convicted twice of sexually assaulting a child be injected during the week before parole with a drug containing female hormones that reduces sexual drive. They also have the option of surgical castration.

quote:

The use of drugs like Depo-Provera in several European countries has produced dramatic reductions in rates of recidivism, which has been estimated at 75 percent to nearly 100 percent, among child molesters.

BTW this law was passed in August 1996 making California the first state in the nation to do it.

I thought this was tried before and the Supreme Court shut it down. Something about a fundamental right to procreate

Just like this law in every other state, if they refuse to take the drug then they have to elect be castrated.

It seems like these laws will make it to the Supreme court to be tested eventually. Seems unconstitutional even though they are convicted criminals. Sadly, even child molesters have rights.

That being said, I am all for castrating them at the very least.

Why are we posting about a law that that was passed 25 years ago and is apparently not being enforced for one reason or another?

Need to make it mandatory physical castration.

So we're turning pedophiles into trannys now?

How exactly does one castrate a woman? Since they don’t have testicles to castrate

I believe castrating perverts is the way to go...but if this got reviewed by the Supreme Court...I think some could interpret it as a violation of the 8th amendment. Also, if we castrate them...there's needs to be something in place that prevents them from having a sex change operation in the future if that person happens to be on Medicare, Medicaid, or whatever type of government funded healthcare.
