Wowwww, this has been like a 15 year project and it’s now up in smoke
Kinda pissed off tbh
A one year lump sum payment of 77 billion is worth it assuming the rail wouldn’t have high annual maintenance costs.

I love how their goal for a time was to complete so much rail that it would be cheaper to finish it than to scrap it.

It’s a one time money drain though
It’s not like it would require yearly funding.

I mean its already been slated for use. even though the project is canceled, we can still spend it, right?
Reminds me of a project they did on long island to study on how to control/cut the deer population. They spent like $5k per deer to neuter them, with a like 2 million budget
ETA it was staten island. 2 million budget for a study on about 800 total deer

Why do people fall for these government-subsudized boondoggles? They are guaranteed financial disasters. If they made sense, there would be billionaires knifing each other in the back to be the first to build one.
