Cayman is not a turbo 4.
It is a 6 cylinder normally aspirated

Like them both, and they are both excellent cars.
The corvette's engine is mounted up front....but the transmission/transaxle is in the rear to even the weight out.

Was wondering how long till someone finally caught that...

who grew up loving the early C3's
There's just something about the early C3's with all their noise, poor steering and brakes and god-awful heat in the cockpit that makes us want to keep them awhile longer. Not going to lie, I've been tempted more than a few times to pull the trigger on a new one. Maybe one day...

when someone buys the watered down version of a car, they always say "wish I had just got the ZL1, Z06, ZR1" or 911 turbo. The special cars are much easier to sell or add to a collection.
C7 is a sick car but I'd choose a used C6 ZR1 to have something different.
Slightly used exotics can be found fairly priced especially in texas.
I love the Ford GT350 but I understand this is a separate type of car. Just more suited to everyday driving.

He was talking Cayman...not the new 718 Cayman (as I understood it).

Both are sexy cars, but I would go with the Cayman because you don't see many of them around. I like having something not many people drive. Actually looking into buying a Cayman next summer.

The early steel bumper models

Plus I've seen places say the Cayman S 0-60 from Porsche is pretty conservative and is actually around 4.1s with the PDK. The GTS is then closer to 4.0s flat which puts it even closer to the vette in terms of usable straight line speed. Pricier tho for sure
Don't let close numbers fool you. My 911 had a 0-60 around 4.2 - the Vette was around 4.0. The difference is the torque. Night and day difference in driving experience. Don't buy the Cayman without test driving the Vette. If they'll let you. The local dealers wouldn't let me test drive a Vette. Maybe it was my tattoos.

That"s great if the op is willing to wait to next year.

Just putting this out there:
Top Gear once knocked the Cayman because they felt like it was limited to protect encroachment on the 911. Which was an interesting take at the time.

Depends on location... There are as many Caymans as Stingrays here.

Always a head turner, even when the wiper door is stuck open.

I'm biased, but I agree.
