former LS6 C5 Z06 owner here and I love Corvettes but I'd choose the Cayman. Porsche doesn't want you to know this but mid-engined Cayman handles better than rear engined 911. It's called the law of physics.

Porsche usually doesn't see the model year until a month or maybe two before the actual year (sometimes not until January or February of the same year)...at least on the sport cars.
There are exceptions, of course. When a big change happens, such as in the 2017 991 (911 Carrera) which sees for the first time, turbos used in models other than the uber "Turbo" model of past, they will release them a bit earlier. The new 2017 Carrera and S models just hit the dealerships, and they really only have a couple. This is a very early release for them.
The issue with the 2017 917 Cayman is that Porsche is expecting it to be hugely popular (it is a real beauty) and thus will have a wait to get one. When this happens, they can usually command a good bit over the sticker when they eventually do arrive.
Ray Brandt Porsche (New Orleans), as of this past Monday, has (2) 911 GT3 RS on the floor--one Maroon (already sold) and one in Lime Green...the stickers are around $200k, but they told me they are asking around $295k, as the demand is really high and there aren't enough produced to meet the demand.

BMW E92 M3 and add a supercharger. Will get a mid 3's 0-60 with for around $45k. your 60-120mph will be outrageous too.
Even comes with a back seat!

Some truth to this.
When the redesign to the current 991 came in the 2012 model year, the wheelbase of the 911 grew a whopping 3.9 inches! Thus "pushing" the motor a little more forward to help with the "heavy arse" that has been an issue for years. The car also grew a full 2" in length.
The Cayman GT4 is said to be a nimble monster for its price tag.

My boss has a '14 911 Turbo S. Insanely fast. Just ridiculous.

what don't want an old car? Hell I want a pre-war cled or a 60's continental for sure.
I already had a 67 Mustang. I can do 100mph in my truck, I don;t need to race nor do i want speed, only style.

Yeah man I don't know a great deal about sports cars, but Porsche has always been my favorite. They've stayed true to their lines and I absolutely love the way they look.

As far a old and style, I would love to have a VW microbus!
They have gotten stratospheric in price the last 10 years or so though.

quote:my Gt-R had over 1500hp so the Porsche fees slow compariively, especially from a roll. But I don't have to worry about breaking something very expensive every time I put my foot through the floor. Oddly enough my Pcar came from Birmingham at Birmingham Broker , was on consignment. Poor fellow also had a Ferrari 458 and one had to go.

you are right there. It's insane how much all classics shot up since the 90's. I do like Microbuses.

Damn man. A dd'd RS7, a 991, and a house full of macintosh stuff.

2014 saw the 50th Anniversary of the 911. There was a 2014 911 Carrera S that was done to commemorate this milestone. 1964 of these cars were produced (the year they were first made).
In the commemorative hardback book, they show numerous pictures of the current model next to the 1964 model...and is is amazing just how the lines from the one 50 years ago are still in the new one. They even have a few pics of all 6 iterations of the 911 and you can see how the lines that define the 911 are present on every one of them.
It really is a neat pic. You can probably google it and find some of the pics.

Yeah, those heavily modded cars seem like a lot of stress for a dd. Porsche seems to have great reliability relative to performance. There is a Turbo S convertible at Tom Williams Porsche in Bham right now for 91k. I hadn't been in the market but maybe...
Would be hard to part with the 458. Sharpest car on the road as far as I'm concerned.

you got any pics of the GTR?

And that houndstooth interior.

The slick top buses are still worthwhile to play with. $200k+ 23 window isnt something you want to load your friends into for a roadtrip.
