You'll pull more puss in the Cayman.

Then you clearly do not know the definition of a mid-engined car.
I know the technical definition.
But I have never heard of any Corvette referred to as a mid engine design.
And all the car mags are saying in 2018 we will finally see a mid-engine Corvette.

Straight line speed means nothing, buy a bit older 911.
Have you priced air cooled Porsche lately?
That Vette will destroy a 996/993/964 on a road course or quarter mile.

Great cars.
TBH, he should drive the Jaguar F-Type.
It is perfect fit between those two, price-wise and performance-wise.

OK so explain to me why the car mags are saying in 2018 we will finally see a mid-engine Corvette?
Mid-engined is any engine configuration in which the engine placement is between the front and rear axels.

Whatever the vette looks like on the outisde, the inside is generic as eff GM.
bullshite. I've owned a few nice cars over the years, and the Vette has the nicest layout yet (blew away my 911). It feels like a freaking jet cockpit without feeling cramped, and the touchscreen has by far been my favorite (even nicer than my Jag XJL). I loved the inside of the Vette.

Yes I know, but I have never heard anyone call a Corvette a mid engine car.

You can't afford either so don't worry bout it..

Having driven my 997 and Vette on the track, I think it's safe to say that everyone except very experienced track drivers will be faster in the Vette. The 911 consistently wins "best driver's car" in those magazine tests, but for the novice taking a car to the track a few times a year, the Vette is just easier to be fast in. The Porsches do handle a bit better around the turns and the Vette's rear will break loose much easier, but the Vette has SO much more useable speed. It handles very much well enough in the turns, and the acceleration coming out is much more readily available. You can be a lot less smooth yet still faster in the Vette. For anyone that has been on dirt bikes, it's like the difference between a 450F and a 250F.

I read that, but the mags have been predicting a mid-engine vette for decades.

IDGAF, stats mean nothing when it comes to day to day enjoyment of your vehicle.
Buying a car because it beats others is stupid. Buying a car because it throttles your soul is where it's at. Keep looking until you can't live without something.
This isn't a purchase you listen to other people for.
Personally I like linearity with acceleration, I want to know what to expect when I floor it. I want the chassis and suspension to give me confidence...I don't want a point and shoot fast car, I want to drive the car fast. Life's an auto cross, not a race.

That's definitely something to consider. I only kept my Vette for a year since I had to move to a family car for travel, but when my kid moves on to college I'll be getting another sports car. Right now I'm in love with the F-type. If I don't get a Cayman GT4, I'll probably get an F-type. Beautiful cars, and I'm very pleased with my other Jag so far.

Isn't the F type slower than both, though in a straight line? Excluding the "R" anyways which is too pricy for me. For what it's worth, I was considering the "S" version of the Cayman. Or maybe even a used GTS
