I was looking at the GTS online last night - you can get a '15 with 7K miles for mid 70s right now. They are basically the ideally loaded performance version of the S - sweet car right there.

One of the best looking cars out.

You post the top of the line $100K Cayman (GT4) vs a entry level Vette.

I was just looking for similar colors / angles.

Edited the post to show base models.

Personally I like linearity with acceleration, I want to know what to expect when I floor it. I want the chassis and suspension to give me confidence...I don't want a point and shoot fast car, I want to drive the car fast. Life's an auto cross, not a race.

Then you'd be incredibly pleased with the Vette.

Mid engine vette.

The "wait till next gen" rumor since 1984.

It's more than a rumor. It may never be built but I can attest to the fact that it is beyond the rumor stage.

$100K Cayman (GT4)

I can't see the value there.

That wouldn't even be on my list of cars I'd drop a hundo on, but I guess it is Porsche.

I know the technical definition.

But I have never heard of any Corvette referred to as a mid engine design.

And all the car mags are saying in 2018 we will finally see a mid-engine Corvette.

I agree.

They do only when the chassis and weight distribution is discussed.

The GT4 is one of my dream cars right now, but if you're going into the 100K range, a Z06 will destroy anything out there (as long as it doesn't blow up).

I'm not sure you can get a Cayman GT4 for a $100,000 right now. I've seen them listed above 130k and selling in $120's. They have been a huge hit with Porschephilles.

I think car companies call what the corvette has and what the GTR has a FM layout. Front Mid engine.

They are out there in the $107-114K range. Hennessy in Atlanta had a half dozen on the lot at one time.

Are all GT4's a Clubsport, or is that the track-ready version?

Clubsport stickers for another $80K and isn't technically street legal.

There are a couple here available in the mid $90's.

So silly. There are actually vette guys like me, C6 albeit, who grew up loving the early C3's and are at a point in life now where we can finally afford to buy our dream car w/o hindering any family obligations. I'm 45, but the person who posted the average vette owner age is correct at 61. I'd go with the C7 stingray all day every day!

Plus I've seen places say the Cayman S 0-60 from Porsche is pretty conservative and is actually around 4.1s with the PDK. The GTS is then closer to 4.0s flat which puts it even closer to the vette in terms of usable straight line speed. Pricier tho for sure

The Porsche is a little conservative in the numbers.
