I know this is a troll, but I got a lab made diamond from Brilliant Earth for $1900 for my SO and we got it appraised one day just for fun and they offered 4K for it

I lived in Silicon Valley, so I just went to a very nice jeweler that carried all the designer brands. I liked one designer more than the others and just honed in from there. Bought her a Jeff Cooper platinum solitaire. Not a whole lot to it.

I got the diamond separate. Had it shipped to them, they gave her ring size and the diamond measurements and the designer made the setting for both.
Location I asked her at was even better...

Now for wedding rings we picked out our own. I got some strange grey gold alloy with a fiberglass finish that looked like it was scratched to shite.

I can understand why people do it, given how much pressure is put on those who are proposing. However, my ring was a complete surprise and it's absolutely perfect.
It's a diamond solitaire, and it's simple but the diamond is outstanding. It's gorgeous and I love it and it's exactly my taste. I'm glad I didn't pick it out because I don't think I would have done as good of a job, honestly.
We've been together for almost 6 years, though, so I'd like to think he knows what I like by now.

Don’t go with her to a ring store. Ask her to show you pics on pinterest or whatever of rings she likes, get her ring size, then you go shopping a jewelry stores to find one similar to the style of the ones she likes. Most girls have put a fair amount of thought and legwork in already, so use it.
It’s a shame I wasted such a perfect engagement ring on such a horrible marriage.

well it was infused with gold and from some fancy thing. he may have had to custom order it. i may be way off
